ENTRANCE ANTIPHON (if no song):
Let the hearts that seek the Lord rejoice;
turn to the Lord and his strength;
constantly seek his face.
FIRST READING:
Exodus 22:20-26
The Lord said to Moses, „Tell the sons of Israel this,
“You must not molest the stranger or oppress him,
for you lived as strangers in the land of Egypt. You
must not be harsh with the widow, or with the orphan;
if you are harsh with them, they will surely cry out to
me, and be sure I shall hear their cry; my anger will
flare and I shall kill you with the sword, your own
wives will be widows, your own children orphans.
“If you lend money to any of my
people, to any poor man among
you, you must not play the usurer
with him: you must not demand
interest from him.
“If you take another‟s cloak as a
pledge, you must give it back to
him before sunset. It is all the
covering he has; it is the cloak he wraps his body in;
what else would he sleep in? If he cries to me, I will
listen, for I am full of pity”‟.
The word of the Lord.
R:
Thanks be to God

The Pharisees went away to work out between them how to trap Jesus in what he said.
And they sent their disciples to him, together with the Herodians, to say, „Master, we

you are not afraid of anyone, because a man‟s rank means nothing to you. Tell us your
opinion, then. It is permissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not?‟ But Jesus was aware of
their malice and replied. „You hypocrites! Why do
you set this trap for me? Let me see the money
you pay the tax with.‟ They handed him a
denarius and he said, „Whose head is this?
Whose name?‟ Caesar‟s‟ they replied. He then

On this mountain, the Lord of hosts will
prepare for all people a banquet of rich food, a
banquet of fine wines, of food rich and juicy, of

On this mountain he will remove the mourning
veil covering all peoples, and the shroud
enwrapping all nations, he will destroy Death

The Lord will wipe away the tears from every
cheek; he will take away his people‟s shame
everywhere on earth, for the Lord has said so.
That day, it will be said: See, this is our God

“…go to the crossroads in
the town and invite
everyone you can find to
the wedding…”
Our missionaries are out
there in their ‗wedding garments‘ at ‗the
crossroads‘ of our world, amongst the poor &
marginalized, inviting everyone to ‗the
wedding‘. Your generous response to Catholic
Mission’s Propagation of the Faith Appeal
this week-end will sustain & strengthen the
work of our missionaries as they give witness
to God‘s love in the midst of terrible
persecution & human suffering at
‗the
crossroads‘ of our broken world. Inspired by
their example, we too are called to put on our
own ‗wedding garments‘, go to ‗the
crossroads‘ of our own communities and invite
everyone to ‗the wedding‘.

Philippians 4:12-14,19-20
I know how to be poor and I know how to be rich too.
I have been through my initiation and now I am ready
for anything anywhere: full stomach or empty
stomach, poverty or plenty. Thee is nothing I cannot
master with the help of the One who gives me
strength. All the same, it was good of you to share
with me in my hardships. In return my God will fulfill
all your needs, in Christ Jesus, as lavishly as only
God can. Glory to God, our Father, for ever and
ever. Amen.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: Alleluia, Alleluia!
May the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ enlighten the eyes of our heart,
that we might see how great is the hope to which we are called. Alleluia!
GOSPEL:
Matthew 22:1-14
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people: “The kingdom of heaven may
be compared to a king who gave a feast for his son‟s wedding. He sent his servants to
call those who had been invited, but they would not come. Next he sent some more
servants. “Tell those who have been invited” he said “that I have my banquet all
prepared, my oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, everything is ready.
Come to the wedding.” But they were not interested: one went off to his farm, another
to his business, and the rest seized his servants, maltreated them and killed them. The
king was furious. He despatched his troops, destroyed those murderers and burnt their
town. Then he said to his servants. „The wedding is ready; but as those who were
invited proved to be unworthy, go to the crossroads in the town and invite everyone you
can find to the wedding.” So these servants went out on to the
roads and collected together everyone they could find, bad and
good alike; and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
When the king came in to look at the guests he noticed one
man who was not wearing a wedding garment, and said to him,
“How did you get in here, my friend, without a wedding
garment?” and the man was silent. Then the king said to the
attendants, “Bind him hand and foot and throw him out into the
dark, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.” For
many are called, but few are chosen.‟ The Gospel of the Lord.

Isaiah 5:1-7
ROSSMOYNE
St Vincent Pallotti Chapel
Let me sing to my friend the song of his love for his
vineyard. My friend has a vineyard on a fertile
hillside. He dug the soil, cleared it of stones, and
planted choice vines in it. In the middle he built a
tower, he dug a press there too. He expected it to
yield grapes, but sour grapes were all that it gave.
And now, inhabitants of Jerusalem and men of
Judah, I ask you to judge between my vineyard and
me. What could I have done for my vineyard that I
have not done? I expected it to yield grapes. Why
did it yield sour grapes instead.
Very well, I will tell you what I am going to do to my
vineyard: I will take away its hedge for it to be grazed
on, and knock down its wall for it to be trampled on. I
will lay it waste, unpruned, undug; overgrown by the
briar and the thorn. I will command the clouds to rain
no rain on it. Yes, the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is
the House of Israel, and the men of Judah that
chosen plant.
He expected justice, but found
bloodshed, integrity, but only a cry of distress.
The Word of the Lord.

Matthew 21: 33-43
Jesus said to the chief priests and the elders of the people, „Listen to another parable.
There was a man, a landowner, who planted a vineyard; he fenced it round, dug a
winepress in it and built a tower; then he leased it to tenants and went abroad. When
vintage time drew near he sent his servants to the tenants to collect his produce. But
the tenants seized his servants, thrashed one, killed another and stoned a third. Next
he sent some more servants, this time a larger number, and they dealt with them in the
same way. Finally he sent his son to them. “They will respect my son” he said. But
when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, “This is the heir. Come on, let
us kill him and take over his inheritance.” So they seized him and threw him out of the
vineyard and killed him. Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to
those tenants?‟ They answered, „He will bring those wretches to a wretched end and
lease the vineyard to other tenants who will deliver the produce to him when the
season arrives.‟ Jesus said to them, „Have you never read in the scriptures: It was the
stone rejected by the builders that became the keystone. This was the Lord‟s doing
and it is wonder to see? „I tell you, then, that the kingdom of God will be taken from you
and given to a people who will produce its fruit.‟
