Photography is not permitted in the performance space. Kuinka voimme osaltamme auttaa MJ:n sielua vapautumaan kulttuuristen viittausten satiirisesta kiertokulusta? Ruumiinvalvojaiset ehdottaa vastaukseksi läpi yön kestävää kollektiivista juhlimista ja suremista. Instituutti toivoo Ruumiinvalvojaisten osallistujilta rakkaudellisen kunnioittavaa käyttäytymistä. 1/5 Post-MJ Era Institute of Consciousness: MICHAEL-JAN HAVIA, ILPO HEIKKINEN, ANNE HIEKKARANTA, OSSI KOSKELAINEN, IIRIS LAAKSO, SAMULI LAINE, SUVI MATINARO, MARLON MOILANEN, PAULIINA SJÖBERG, JANIMATTI SALO AND EMMI VENNA The DJ’s for Wake: NIKO LIKAINEN, KRISTIINA MÄNNIKKÖ, ANTTI SALONEN MJ’s in the order of appearance: ESETE SUTINEN, EMILIA NEUVONEN, SUNNY SEPPÄ, JOHANNES HOLOPAINEN, LAURA PIETILÄINEN Security officers in the performance: GEOFFREY ERISTA, TOUKO HEIKKINEN, MIKO KIVINEN, KAISA LAPPALAINEN, JOHANNES PUROVAARA, ANNI SWAHN Harpist: SALLA HAKKOLA Post-MJ Era Institute Of Consciousness is supported by: KONE FOUNDATION, FINNISH CULTURAL FOUNDATION, SAMUEL HUBERS KONSTSTIFTELSE, BALTIC CIRCLE FESTIVAL AND KIASMA / URB FESTIVAL In cooperation with: MAD HOUSE HELSINKI Special thanks to: SHT-TUKKU The first part of the seminar series was presented in the Kiasma Theatre at the URB 15 Festival POST-MJ ERA INSTITUTE OF CONSCIOUSNESS on tutkimuslaitos, joka koostuu 80-ja 90-lukujen pop-kulttuurin äärellä kasvaneista yksilöistä. Instituutti on syntynyt vuonna 2015 jäsentensä tarpeesta artikuloida Michael Jacksonin jälkeisen maailman hengellistä ja kehollista tilaa. Instituutin päätehtävä on jäsentää spektaakkelin vaikutusten historiaa Michael Jacksonin luoman myyttisen pohjamaaston kautta. Instituutin ensimmäinen ulostulo, hengellinen seminaari Neverland, järjestettiin Kiasma-teatterissa URB 15 –festivaalilla elokuussa 2015. Wake (Ruumiinvalvojaiset) is an allnight seminar focusing on the effects of the death of Michael Jackson. The participants are invited to ask themselves how to cope with the absence of an influential and complex icon, and to understand the legacy of his times. Wake suggests an answer in collective celebration and mourning, from dusk till dawn. The Institute requests participants to attend the Wake with a loving and respectful behaviour. 2/5 AIKATAULU / SCHEDULE 22:00 Ruumiinvalvojaistila auki/ Doors open 22:15 Avajaisseremonia / Opening Ceremony 22:40 Alkukonsertti / Opening Concert 23:15 Emmi Venna: Feeling MJness 23:30- Niko Likainen DJ Set 01:30 01:30 Malja / Toast 1:45- Kristiina Männikkö DJ Set 03:45 POST-MJ ERA INSTITUTE OF CONSCIOUSNESS is a research body run by individuals who grew up within the pop culture of the 80’s and 90’s. The Institute was established in 2015 in response to a need to articulate the world after Michael Jackson as a spiritual and bodily state. The mission behind the Institute is to articulate the influences of the spectacle through the mythical terrain created by MICHAEL JACKSON. The first part of the seminar series was presented in the Kiasma Theatre at the URB 15 Festival in August 2015. 03:45 Ossi Koskelainen: Suden hetkenä Michael Jacksonista/ Michael Jackson In The Hour Of The Wolf 04:00- Antti Salonen DJ Set 06:00 06:00 Loppuseremonia / Closing Ceremony MICHAEL-JAN HAVIA (born 1990) is a Michael Jackson look-a-like living in Järvenpää. He has dedicated five years of his life to cherish the memory of MJ. ILPO HEIKKINEN (b. 1988) is a sound designer from Kempele. He has worked actively within performance arts, NGOs and noise music in the past years, finding fuel in uncompromising nihilism and joy, as well as in cross-disciplinary arts and sciences. ANNE HIEKKARANTA (b. 1976 Juankoski) received her Master of Arts degree in Dance in 2000. She has worked in contemporary dance as a versatile performer and recently also as a 3/5 choreographer. She made her stage debut back in 1988 as a young performer inspired by Michael Jackson… Now, 27 years later, she finds herself working again with the same physical challenges… OSSI KOSKELAINEN (b. 1980) took home the first prize in his lower school danceoff with movement language stolen from Michael Jackson. He has since graduated from the Helsinki Theatre Academy in 2008, served as artistic director of the renowned Helsinki amateur theatre Ylioppilasteatteri, as well as freelanced in performance arts and film. He sees performing as a celebration of the diversity of life. SAMULI LAINE (b. 1983) is a scenographer and artist working in Finland and Central Europe. He loves slow life and euphoric dancing. Laine has looked for the essence of partying from the Helsinki underground to Berghain, for something to sweep him away, but he has found techno too commanding as a form of dance music. In Michael Jackson, he is enthralled by the artist’s metamorphosis and commitment to kitsch, and the megalomania that steered his life and art. SUVI MATINARO (b. 1980) designs costumes for the stage, cinema and commercial worlds. She also produces commissioned projects, and works as an illustrator. To her, costume design 4/5 goes beyond clothing: costumes form an essential part of a performance, supporting and shaping the content and offering food for thought. Her interest in the life of Jackson lies in showing and concealing, and their possible notes of fiction. JANI-MATTI SALO (b. 1984) is a lighting designer from Helsinki. He works with both local and international performance art and contemporary dance productions, most recently in venues like Helsinki’s Kiasma Theatre and the Stockholm City Theatre. Salo has studied lighting design at TTVO in Tampere, as well as at the Helsinki Theatre Academy. He received the Säde award for best lighting design in 2014. EMMI VENNA (b. 1985) is a choreographer and performer from Helsinki. In her work, she aims to articulate complex tensions in the body, and to shake up her own experience of beauty. She believes there is information stored in the body of Michael Jackson that can lead the way to a more attuned and meaningful life. 5/5
