SUNDAY CONCERTS
PARIS! A Musical Moveable Feast
TRE BELLA
Masterwork Conversations
Three Beauties, One Voice
November 16 // 2pm
December 14 // 2pm
Paris, that beguiling city overlooking the
Seine, has inspired painters, poets, and
artists of every description for centuries.
Pianists Matthew Harrison and Vlada
Yaneva pay tribute to this fabled city by
performing the music of composers that
fell under its spell. Hear Claude
Debussy’s enchanting Clair de Lune and
Petit Suite, Frederic Chopin’s Nocturne
Op. 9 no. 1, as well as works by Rameau,
Mozart, and Liszt. Matthew holds
Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Manhattan School
of Music, and is currently a faculty member of the school’s
Precollege Division. Vlada graduated with high honors from
the National Academy of Music in her native Bulgaria, and has
a Bachelor of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music.
Their performances have taken them from stages in Europe to
Carnegie Hall. C’est magnifique!
Tre Bella is a three-part
harmony girl group with
a special flair for Italian and
Italian American pop music.
JoAnn Robertozzi, Lorraine
Ferro, and Rosie De Sanctis
are indeed three beautiful
women with extraordinary
voices. The trio performs
hit songs such as “Gloria”
which was first written in
Italian, and “Lo Che Non Vivo” made popular by Dusty
Springfield as “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.”
A special tribute to the Rat Pack, complete with choreography,
includes the songs “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and “The
Best is Yet to Come.” Tre Bella has appeared at performing
arts centers and festivals around the country and on television’s
Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Today Show.
IT’S SHOW TIME
Hollywood’s Golden Year
vs History
The Sound of Music
Wednesday, November 19 // 2pm
Wednesday, December 3 // 2pm
Film historians often rate 1939 as the
greatest year in motion picture history.
It was a year that saw the release of
Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz,
Stagecoach, Mr. Smith Goes to
Washington, Goodbye, Mr. Chips,
Gunga Din, and The Hunchback of
Notre Dame. Join Phil Harwood as he revisits that golden year,
when all of the stars seemed to be aligned. See film clips of
these and other blockbuster films and hear about some of the
epic battles that occurred behind the scenes between the
powerful movie studios, directors, screenwriters, and some
of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
The Sound of Music,
based on the memoir of
Maria Von Trapp, was
turned into an enormously
successful play and
motion picture. This
engaging story, set to the
music of Rodgers and
Hammerstein, has charmed audiences around the globe,
but how much of this delightful tale is true? Join John
Kendrick as he takes an entertaining look at how the real
Von Trapp story compares with the one portrayed in this
delightful musical.

LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Board regretfully announces the resignation of Cathy

special needs, Mrs. Dapolito helped the Library expand
services and awareness. In accordance with the Library’s
by-laws, the Board has appointed Mary DiGiovanna to fill the
vacancy and serve as trustee for the remainder of the term.
Mrs. DiGiovanna has an MBA in finance and was a

PTA and SEPTA positions of leadership. We are confident that
Mrs. DiGiovanna’s breadth and depth of experience will make

EVELYN ROTHSCHILD TO RETIRE
After 31 years with the Oceanside Library, the last 15 as
director, I have decided to retire at the end of January.
My years at Oceanside have been the most rewarding of my
long career, and I will always be grateful for the opportunity
I was given to lead the Library. I want to thank our dedicated
and supportive Library Board, which has worked diligently to
expand library services, our outstanding staff, whose hard
work has made the Oceanside Library second to none, and our
wonderful community, without whose support the Library
could not have flourished. The Library will always be a part
of my life, and I leave confident that it will thrive in the years
ahead as it continues to provide our community with vital
services, resources, and programs.
