Our students get jobs in advertising and corporate settings, designing fashion, interiors, jewelry and anything that requires creative skills learned at Montserrat College of Art. And now Montserrat is one of a handful of art colleges with a required internship program for every student to give you the experience and contacts that can help you get hired after graduation. The Internship and Apprenticeship Program is a degree requirement for graduation. The program lets students take into the workplace what they've learned in the classroom, and gain practical experience, learn the realities of the workplace, and explore the direction they’d like their careers to take after they graduate. Some students participate in corporate internships that hire artists, and others work with established artists who are making their living and their mark with their art. *The Required Junior Year Internship & Apprenticeship Program at Montserrat College of Art was created through the generosity of a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation, which was established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after his retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarket, Inc. “It has been our pleasure to work with Montserrat College of Art. It is our hope to always have an intern from Montserrat to assist in our marketing and client development efforts.” Carol Flaherty, Firm Administrator, Metaxas Norman & Pidgeon photo: jason chaney Attorney Daniela Messina (left), intern Jennifer Lena (center), supervisor Carol Flaherty, Firm Administrator at Metaxas Norman & Pidgeon Eben Kling, intern, KnowAtom, Fun Science for Kids Kno wAto m Jeremiah Dube (below) & Jeph Ellis, working on a mural for the Brookwood School 006 “I feel that it’s very important to practice what you are studying while still in school. The internship program does that, and I think it’s great that it is a requirement for credit. ©2 photo: courtesy of Peabody Essex Museum Marketing Associate Maggie Glidden working with intern Kate Burgess on a campaign for the Peabody Essex Museum “My internship in the Marketing Department at Peabody Essex Museum gave me real-world experience, allowing me to interact with professional museum employees in a professional environment. Being involved in an internship off campus reassured me that artists are capable of living comfortable, professional lives while still being creative.” Kate Burgess, intern, PEM Illustrations of incandescent light (above) and flourescent light by Eben Kling & Adam Ziskie for KnowAtom. It raised my self-esteem and I can now apply the skills of draftsmanship, craftsmanship, promotion and presentation at school and to my future career as an artist.” At om About our Director Joan Milnes holds an MA in Counseling and a BA in Psychology that includes a minor in Business Administration.
