How-To load a satLINK ”Identity File”
Introduction
The purpose of this procedure is to allow lost satLINK LRU “NOT SET” fields to be correctly
populated using Avionica satLINK configurator utility version (AV). Avionica satLINK configurator utility
version (AV) now includes new functionality to support end users in restoring lost satLINK serial number
and other electronic labels without the need for a configurator password. The information required to
create an “Identity File” is obtained by Avionica Support based on customer supplied information for the
particular satLINK UUT, which is then validated against purchase and repair information kept on file.
The capability to unlock "electronic LRU labels" using Avionica satLINK configurator utility ver (AV) is
accomplished by the Save a satLINK Serial Number menu option and is only available to Avionica
Support for creating an “Identity File” (.aid), which is a branding stamp that has been customized for each
specific satLINK LRU UUT. Load a satLINK Serial Number menu option, accepts this unique “Identity
File” provided to the customer by Avionica Support and after verification burns the “Identity File” onto the
satLINK LRU UUT. This action is then followed by loading the normal configuration file(s) to assure the
complete satLINK Configuration is restored.
Steps:
1. Establish connection to satLINK UUT via WiFi. Open satLINK Configurator Utility software ver.
(AV). Select “Connect to satLINK”.
2. Navigate to “File” menu. Select “Load LRU Serial Number” from drop down menu.
3. Locate Avionica provided (.aid) Identity File, Select the (.aid) Identity File, Select “Open” file.
4. The following screen will show validation, “New LRU identity prepared”, prompting to load
satLINK (.acf) configuration file. Select “Load Configuration” from screen menu box.
5. Locate satLINK (.acf) configuration file. Select (.acf) file. Select “Open” file
6. The following screen will show configuration file load in progress followed by “New config file
successfully loaded into satLINK”. Verify “NOT SET” fields are now correctly populated for Part
Number, Serial Number, Date of Manufacture and Hardware Version.
Note: With all its electronic identity marks lost, the only way to positively identify a satLINK is by (voice,
9522, external) IMEI number. Hence the IMEI is required to create an “Identity File”. Each “Identity File”
is digitally signed, so it cannot be altered without invalidating it.
