Balance is a time-honored goal in the making of premium wines and working toward balance is a way of life at Burrowing Owl Estate
Winery. Founder Jim Wyse is committed to balance, well beyond that of the fine, world-class wines being produced. A kind of
Hippocratic oath ("to do no harm") underlies the creative viticultural and enological practices at Burrowing Owl. The winery and
vineyard lie within one of Canada's most unique ecological systems, which includes the northern most tip of the Sonora Desert, on a
southwest - tilting sandy plateau near the north end of Osoyoos Lake. A gravity-flow system delicately handle the carefully - selected
ripe grapes preserving their rich fruit character. Extensive underground cellering capacity ensures that long-term barrel aging is never
limited by space. The combination of the unique terroir and dedicated craftmanship has resulted in critical acclaim and consumer
demand for Burrowing Owl's wines since the first vintage in 1997.

Calliope. Pronounced ka-LIE-oh-pee, this captivating name pays homage ot a tiny hummingbird which is found in southern British
Columbia and is Canada's smallest bird. The word Calliope is of Greek origin meaning 'beautiful voice' and was chosen by the Wyse
family in recognition of their interest in birds and music. Calliope is also the Greek Muse of Eloquence and Poetry.

South Okanagan Valley. The winery is owned and operated by two generation of the Martiniuk family, who have been growing vines

Originally the Christian Bible Church for the local area then later also used as a parish school; the chapel closed in its centenary year
(1965) and fell into disrepair until its restoration in the 1970’s by Adelaide Professor, Tom Nelson. Tom commenced the establishment
of a winery and the Chapel Hill brand in 1973 and six years later the site was purchased by a partnership of the Sellick and Gerrard
families who enjoyed considerable success in developing the Chapel Hill wines. A new winery was constructed in 1994 and in 2000
Chapel Hill was acquired by the Swiss based family of Thomas Schmidheiny. Chapel Hill owns and operates 44 hectares of vineyards
and purchases fruit from a select group of McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills vignerons. Since 2006 there have been a number of
significant changes within the business. Changes to vineyards, wine styles, packaging and personnel have significantly contributed to
a new look Chapel Hill that is totally dedicated to producing the best possible quality range of wines that articulate the stylistic
expression the region.

"Ghost Winery" is the name given to the few remaining early Napa Valley wineries that were in existence between 1860 and 1900
which were decimated by the phylloxera infestation of the 1890's. One example of a fantastically preserved Ghost Winery is located on
the Regusci Ranch. In 1932, Gaetano Regusci purchased the historic piece of property and started producing his own estate wines.
Eventually, Gaetano's son Angelo took over the facility and continued the family tradition of farming and winemaking. In 1995,
Angelo's son Jim, decided to re-establish a winery on the property and in 1996 Angelo and Jim crushed their first vintage of Stags
Leap District Wines.
