A report is a description of an event or situation
When you write a report you need to
choose your words wisely.
Writing clearly means making
your story easy for the reader
to understand. Being clear is
also about the logical order in
which you write things.
Your report should be:
Clear
Concise
Correct
Outline of a report
Writing concisely means
keeping your sentences and
text simple and to the point.
1 An introduction
Write about:





2 Middle sections with heading
detailing your research, ideas and
discussion. Keep this at about 3 to 5
different topics--at the most.
Who was involved
What happened
Where it took place
When it happened
Why it happened
3 Summary and/or conclusion
A summary is a retelling of what you
have reported on; a conclusion
draws together your feelings or
arguments about the topic to reach
your final point of view.
Writing correctly means
sticking to the rules of the
language you are using. It is
important to spell words
correctly. Correct punctuation
is also important.
It’s important to know all the facts and report them fully. If any details are
missing or reported incorrectly then people will not take your report seriously.
So, research your topic when you have to write about a true fact.

Many people have been killed and others injured in a plane crash at
the airport in Spain’s capital city Madrid.
This is what happened
Due to a mechanical problem the Spanair plane swerved off the
runway as it tried to take off at around 13.45 on Wednesday
afternoon. The flight was on its way from Barajas airport, to the
holiday island of Gran Canaria with about 160 people onboard. The
plane skidded into fields and burst into flames, and fire fighters and
other emergency services rushed to the scene.

It’s OK to be upset by the news
Plane expert Chris Yates said the aircraft was a MD82, a plane used
a lot on short trips around Europe.
Mr Yates said the airline, Spanair, had a very good safety record.
Despite the fact that many people have been killed and others injured,
it’s important to remember that incidents like this are very rare.
