Nevada FBINAA and Nevada Sheriffs’ & Chiefs’ Association 2014 ANNUAL TRAINING CONFERENCE November 11 - 14, 2014 Las Vegas, Nevada The Nevada FBI National Academy Associates and the Nevada Sheriffs’ and Chiefs’ Association have once again partnered to offer a quality training and networking experience for the annual training conference. All attendees will receive Nevada P.O.S.T. credit for attendance. The training, highlighted below, and all conference activities will be held at the Palace Station Hotel/Casino in Las Vegas. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH 8:30 AM TO 10:15 AM – IAN HAMILTON, I.A.C.P. “I.A.C.P. OFFICER SAFETY AND WELLNESS” Ian Hamilton joined the IACP staff in 2007 and has worked supporting and managing a series of criminal justice-oriented initiatives including strategic partnerships between law enforcement and corrections and gang migration patterns. For three years, under a multi-year award from the National Institute of Justice, Hamilton oversaw the development of technical performance standards for three emerging law enforcement technologies: digital in-car camera systems, LPR, and interview room recording systems. Mr. Hamilton presently manages a series of grant-funded initiatives under the IACP Center for Officer Safety and Wellness, looking at issues such as reducing officer injuries, violence against police, ambush attacks and preventing law enforcement suicides. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH 10:30 AM TO NOON – DANIEL BARRY, UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX “LEADERSHIP IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY” Daniel Barry is the Campus College Chair, University of Phoenix, College of Criminal Justice & Security, Las Vegas Campus. Dan retired as a captain from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2010, after completing 30 years of service. Being a captain for eleven years, he had a variety of assignments ranging from commanding area commands, support services, gangs, organized crime and special events. Dan also worked with the FBI in its anti-political corruption task force known as “Operation G Sting.” Dan also served in internal affairs, narcotics, vice and field training during his career. Dan is a graduate of the FBINAA 186 th Session and served on the Nevada FBINAA Executive Board. He is also a graduate of the 2005 Senior Management in Policing (SMIP) sponsored by the Police Executive Forum. Dan has authored two books which focus on ethics and trust in law enforcement. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH 1:00 PM TO 5:00 PM – DALE STOCKTON & TOMMY LOFTIS “BELOW 100” Dale Stockton is a 32-year veteran of law enforcement, having worked in all areas of police operations and investigations, retiring as a police captain from Carlsbad, California. He is a graduate of the 201 st Session of the FBI National Academy, the California Supervisory Leadership Institute, the FBI Southwest Command College and holds a graduate degree from the University of California, Irvine, School of Criminology, Law and Society. He has served as a Commissioner for California POST, taught college level criminal justice classes, is the Editor-in-Chief of Law Officer Magazine and the Director of Below 100. Tommy Loftis is the Law Enforcement Coordinator for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Alabama. He has previously served as a officer, investigator and chief of police. Loftis has presented the Below 100 program to over 100 law enforcement groups across the country and nearly every law enforcement department in his home state of Alabama. He has more than 30 years of leadership, training and facilitation experience. Steve is a dynamic speaker who is known for his “straight talk” that gets right to the heart of key and challenging issues.
