NEWSLETTER 23 October 2014 Stella Maris Catholic Primary School N E W S L E T T E R Dear Families This Sunday In the gospel we hear Jesus tell us about the greatest commandment “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.” Then he tells us the second greatest is “you shall love your neighbour as yourself.” Jesus did not mean that we are to be nice only to the person that lives next door to us. Jesus meant that we must love others even when they may not be very nice to us. That’s hard to do, but Jesus shows us that it can be done. There were people who hurt Jesus and caused Jesus to be nailed to a cross. Jesus had done nothing wrong, but He was punished. How did Jesus treat these hurtful people? He asked God to forgive them! Jesus is our example of how to be a neighbour. On October 28th we celebrate our annual Grandparents day. We invite Grandparents to come to school in the morning and join with their grandchildren in their classrooms, share morning tea with other grandparents in the school hall, and be entertained by some of our students. “Family Life Gifts” will be holding a stall in the foyer on this day giving people a chance to purchase gifts.
