31The days are surely coming, says the LORD, when I will make a
new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. 32It
will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors when I
took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt — a
covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, says the
LORD. 33But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of
Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put my law within
them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and

say to each other, "Know the LORD," for they shall all know me,

Glory to you, O Lord
31Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you
continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32and you will know
the truth, and the truth will make you free." 33They answered him,
"We are descendants of Abraham and have never been slaves to
anyone. What do you mean by saying, 'You will be made free'?"
34Jesus answered them, "Very truly, I tell you, everyone who
commits sin is a slave to sin. 35The slave does not have a permanent
place in the household; the son has a place there forever. 36So if the
Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

Today
Reformation Sunday Worship and Forum: St. Luke is glad to
welcome the Rev. Dr. Karl Krueger as guest preacher and leader of a
special adult forum, Luther and the Bible: Making Images Preach.
Pastor Krueger is the director of the Krauth Memorial Library and
professor of the History of Christianity at the Lutheran Theological
Seminary at Philadelphia. The forum will begin at 9:45 a.m. in the
sanctuary, between the 8:30 & 11:00 worship services.
Table Talk is a lively discussion on topics of current interest from a
faith perspective. Table Talk normally meets at 9:45 Sundays in the
Conference Room. TODAY we will join the Karl Krueger forum
for Reformation Sunday. Please join us.
Fire Station Tour: TODAY 12:30-2:00 p.m. Tour the Paoli Fire
Station. Discover the operations of a current fire station. See an
ambulance, meet a firefighter, and climb on the BIG truck if you’re
inclined! We’ll meet in Schlack Hall after late service and caravan
and return for a light lunch. Sponsored by the Evangelism Team
(ETeam) who work to strengthen, grow, and sustain our worship
community. Connections with others in our faith community via
common interests, sharing talents, and serving together are ways to
spark more engagement amongst us and build relationships.

All Saints Sunday, November 2, is when we remember in the
life of the church those who have gone home to be with our Lord. If
there is the name of one who has died since All Saints of last year
that you would like to have read during worship on that day, please
contact the church office by Monday, October 27.

The Creative Arts schedule for 2014 – 2015 is complete and will
be mailed out to last year’s generous supporters. The schedule will
soon be posted on the choir room door and on the bulletin board
outside the office of the Director of Music. Our first concert will be
held on November 2, when our Senior Choir will be joined by the
choirs of Trinity Episcopal, King of Prussia and Nativity B. V. M.
Catholic, Media. The featured work will be The German Mass of
Franz Schubert. 4:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
Bill Mallonee Concert: Bill Mallonee returns to the Philadelphia
area with the 2014 Winnowing Tour featuring Muriah Rose. With
over 50 albums worth of excellent material, Bill Mallonee
(Vigilantes of Love) is heading to the road bringing an evening of
excellent stories and songs. His troubadour show is made complete
by the piano and vocal accompaniment of his wife Muriah Rose.
Saturday, November 15 - Doors at 7 p.m., Show begins 7:30 p.m.

Appalachian Service Project trip June 28- July 4, 2015.

Nursery Volunteers Needed: Our regular nursery help, Leslie
Gallagher, will be away both Sundays November 9 and 16.
Therefore, I am looking for some additional volunteers to help as
follows:
November 9 - 60th Anniversary, 1 additional volunteer
needed for the one service at 10:00 a.m.
November 16 - 1 additional volunteer needed for each of the
services.

Harvest Food Drive for the Great Valley Food Cupboard: During
the month of November, we will collect non-perishable food and
cleaning items for our local food pantry. Laundry Soap, Dish soap,
Mayonnaise, Honey, Cereal, Oatmeal, Granola bars are the kinds of
items in short supply right now. If you’re able to provide these for
one of the 200 individuals served each month by the Food Cupboard,
please drop them off in the box outside Schlack Hall. The GVFC is
based in the Baptist Church of the Great Valley, just up the road.
Lutheran World Relief/Equal Exchange Coffee & Chocolate
Day, November 2: Fairly-traded Coffee and chocolate from the
LWR coffee project helps to build communities and strengthen
families across the world. On Sunday, November 2, choose from
regular and decaf coffee and dark or mild chocolate.
This year’s Lucia Fest will be held at Saint Luke Lutheran Church
on Sunday, December 14th at 5:00 p.m. All children older than 3 are
welcome and encouraged to participate in a variety of ways.
 Those who would like to sing and are between the ages of 4 and
12 (up to and including 6th grade) should come to practice on
Sunday mornings at 9:00 in the choir room beginning next week.
 Girls in grades 7 - 12 are invited to participate in the Lucia
Court. Practices will be held before youth band (2CC) rehearsals
at 5:30 on Sunday evenings, and Sunday mornings during the
Sunday school hour. We’ll have information on more ways to

Pastor Sue’s Surgery Was a Success. Your continued prayers are
welcome during her recovery over the next two months. All who
wish to provide support for Pastor Sue and her family are invited to
do the following:
 Worship regularly, give generously, pray without ceasing!

 Give the gift of music or books with iTunes or Amazon gift card.
 Send Subway gift cards to tide teenage boys over for meals on
the run.

Attention ACME Shoppers!! Acme has a new program to save
stickers (acquired each time you shop and spend $10) and redeem
the stickers for pots and pans! It would be great if we could collect
any that you may not be using, and try to get some pots/pans for the
Great Valley Food Cupboard. (We collected stickers last year for the
Rachael Ray dishware, and were able to get quite a few pieces to
donate to the cupboard for those needing them.) Please drop them off
in the church office in an envelope, or place them in the basket on
the shelf just across from the church office. Thank you for your help!

WELCA Fall Luncheon: November 2, St. Matthews Lutheran
Church needs your registration money by October 20. The cost is
$10 which includes a luncheon and a speaker who will talk about
"How To Bridge Generations With One Voice." Please mail your
check to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 2440 Conestoga Road,
Chester Springs, Pa. 19425. Mark WELCA on the memo line of your
check. Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. and the lunch and program
1:30 - 4:00 p.m. We will leave St. Luke after church at 12:30.
Carpools will be used and let's hope we fill them up! A sign-up sheet
is next to the office.
Next Steps




I will give thanks for generations of Christians that have shaped
the faith of the Church.
I will pray that St. Luke (and the whole Church) will be open to
God’s ongoing reformation.
I will look for ways that God is inviting us to change and grow as
people of faith.
