We are a busy part of the British Consulate in Guangzhou, wholly focussed on enhancing our business relationship between the UK and China. We receive a large number of visiting UK Ministers and VIPs and significant engagement with UK and Chinese business – from high-level lobbying and support on large-scale inward investment deals to inward and outward missions to and from UK and China and specialist expertise UKTI offers to UK business. The jobholder will work closely with the Energy, Environment, and Infrastructure (EEI) team members in marketing the UK as the first choice for overseas investment amongst Chinese companies and organisations, securing high value inward investment projects to the UK (investment aspect), and also helping the UK companies to win business deals in the China market (trade aspect). The jobholder will have 50% responsibility on Renewable Energy (with 25% off shore wind and 25% other renewables) and 50% on Oil & Gas sectors, where the job holder will work closely with the Oil & Gas lead based in Beijing. The jobholder will need strong networking skills, can work independently, and be pro-active. There will be specific targets for the jobholder to achieve every month to ensure a healthy number of pipeline projects. He/ She will conduct research and identify good events/ exhibitions to cultivate new leads. He/ She must also be comfortable meeting with and developing relationships with representatives from Chinese and UK companies from scratch. The jobholder will provide support to both the team leader and the Senior Trade & Investment Officer. The job requires the jobholder to have strong organisational skills and multi-tasking ability. He/ She will be asked to prepare briefing notes, arrange company visits, and follow up with meetings for the team leader and the Senior Trade & Investment Officer. He/ She will also be responsible for managing data and figures, as well as filing. The job holder will also work closely with other team members on various UKTI events. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?) Support on generating potential investment projects and business wins in Renewable Energy and Oil & Gas sectors by working closely with local multipliers and actively exploring business events. Conduct desk top research, visit exhibitions and companies. Contribute to FDI pipeline target.
