Pastor’s Letter
Dear Parishioners,
The nephews and nieces love Halloween. They love to dress up. They
enjoy putting on the costumes and masks. They find great joy in having you guess
who is behind the mask. We may only have clues as to who is behind the mask.
The height of the person and the sound of their voice are clues. How often do the
young ones try to disguise their voices too?
The costumes people choose somehow often relate to something they see
in themselves or something by which they are enamored. So costumes that
represent and can serve to draw out some really positive points about a person’s
inner self are powerful costumes indeed.
While God calls us to be holy, that is the most fulfilling way we can live our
lives, becoming the persons we were created to be, the development towards
holiness can be hindered by the masks we sometimes wear. Our lives can become
self-centered. While God’s plan for us is that we know the transforming love of
God at work in our hearts and that that love of God would overflow into our words
and actions. Jesus’ way is that every act of ours would be life giving and love to
those with whom we interact. This is the way that we live life to the fullest and
have the divine touch of God’s life active within our lives.
When I was young my father encouraged us, “act enthusiastic and you’ll be
enthusiastic.” This did not mean that we should be living a lie; no, not at all. It
meant that we ought to do our best to live our lives with gusto and vigor recognizing the gift of life that we had been giving by God who with our mother and father
gave us life.
As Halloween approaches, and many people will mask-up, may we open our
hearts to be “the best version of ourselves” the persons God has created us to be,
living in the loving family of God as his sons and daughters. When you take off
your mask and reveal your true self may you be made in God’s image, may you be
a person transformed by God’s love, may you be completely confident in Jesus’
care and concern for you.
Father Oliver
I plead with you—never, ever give up on
hope, never doubt, never tire, and never
become discouraged. Be not afraid.

PARISH CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
Our Parish Christmas Bazaar is quickly approaching and we need some volunteers for donations, baking and
creativeness. If you are interested in helping out in any way here are suggestions.
Donations of new items for our punchboard give away table. These items can be anything from a small appliance, a toy, household or decorative item. Any new items are welcome.
Get your creative juices flowing by making a themed basket for our basket raffle. These baskets are put together by parishioners and in the past have consisted of all types of themes such as: Movie Basket; Italian dinner basket; Cookie/Cake making basket, Winter Wonderland basket, etc. A basket doesn’t even need to be
used, just use your imagination.
As always the weekend of the bazaar we will also be asking for our wonderful bakers to turn on those ovens and
make your specialties for our baked goods table.
If you are interested in any of the above please contact the rectory and let us know so we have an idea of what
we will have ahead of time. These items can all be dropped off at either church after the masses or at the rectory. If you need an item picked up from your home this can also be arranged through the rectory. Thank you
for your generosity to the parish.
