desktops, please!) for a free 15 minute session! No registration required. October 13th, 11am-1pm.
PAGE-TURNERS
The Library's book discussion club for adult readers, will gather again at the library on October 29th at 7pm. The book selected for discussion is Mary Coin by
author Marisa Silver. Mary Coin is an immigrant tale in which two women's lives
are affected by their chance meeting. The author created this story based on
two real women - one a mother struggling to take care of her family and, the
other, a photographer who takes her picture with her children facing away from
the camera. Even the image, "Migrant Mother" by Dorothea Lange, is real and
well known as representing the hard times of the Depression. Check out a book,
audio book, or e-book to enjoy this engaging story.
CRAFTERS
WELCOME!
CREATIVE FUN @ YOUR LIBRARY
WORLD CARD MAKING DAY—The library will host its fourth annual cardmaking day for paper crafters who would like to create cards for area servicemen and women, veterans and those who are currently deployed. Anyone with a family member who is currently deployed or a veteran, please
provide an address and a card will be sent thanking them for their service.
All materials are provided free of charge, but participants are asked to
bring a pair of scissors and any favorite tools they wish to use. October
4th, 10am-4pm.
BUCKET LIST? NO, NECTAR LIST!- Lots of people have a "bucket list" but this session offers
an opportunity to create a "Nectar List Art Journal" based on your personal reflections. To create your own, take stock of what has shaped your life and brought you to now. Rather than
commiserate about missed opportunities and the "if only" decisions we all make, identify the
things that make you proud and make you smile. Instead of a bucket list, we will list things or
events that have been the "nectar" of life thus far.
A variety of art journaling techniques will be used to make a "Nectar List Art Journal" as beautiful as your life! Attendees should bring a composition book, scissors, ruler, fine tip felt pen in
one or more colors and memorabilia to place in your book. Examples might be travel brochures, photographs, ticket stubs, anything that commemorates a life event you wish to include. November 1st, 11am-4pm.
All library programs are open to the public and free of charge.
Library hours: Mon. - Th. 10am - 7pm, Fri. & Sat. 10am - 5pm
An evening of sharing, learning and fun
for adult crafters on
