It is celebrated on Nov. 1st and 2nd. In Mexico and in many other Latin American countries families build alters in their homes. Altars are made and decorated with white or yellow candles, flowers (mostly marigolds), incense, and pictures of the deceased, the deceased favorite foods, crosses, or other mementos. People will clean and decorate tombstones in the cemetery. In the cemetery families use flowers and candles to lead the souls of the dead back to the families. They spend the night telling stories, playing music and eating together. It is a happy holiday and families prepare for months to buy supplies & special foods. Look for our invitation in this newsletter and you can help us celebrate the Day of Dead. 8th Grade Parent Meeting: The next 8th grade parent meeting will be held on Nov. 5th at 6:30pm in the school library.
