FROM THE PRINCIPAL...
Welcome to Term 4! I trust you all enjoyed your children’s company during
the end of term break.
UPCOMING EVENTS…
The staff spent the last two days of last term analysing data and planning for
2015 as a result of that analysis. Two members of the School Board joined us
for part of the planning days and I would like to thank them for taking the
time to do so. The School Board plays an important role in the school and it
was heartening to see that they are willing to commit to school activities.
24th October
Minister Visit
TA12—Assembly
Visit by the Minister for Education
The Hon Peter Collier MLC, Minister For Education, and the Hon Albert Jacob MLA, Member For Ocean Reef, will
be visiting Kinross Primary School this Friday 24th October 2014. They will meet with the staff and then visit some
classrooms before meeting with the School Board Chair and the P&C President. This visit is primarily to look at the
school operations and to gain a greater understanding of what goes on at Kinross Primary School. We look forward
to the meeting commencing at 10.40 a.m.
Attendance at Kinross Primary School 2015
An essential part of our planning for 2015 is working through the new Student Centred Funding process. This
process relies on us having accurate data about student numbers for 2015. You are able to greatly assist us with
this by letting us know if your child/children will NOT be attending in 2015. Each child is worth a significant amount
of money so any changes to student numbers will have an immediate impact on our budget. Please help us by
letting us know as soon as possible if you will not be here next year. Thank you.
Parent Requests for 2015
Another essential part of planning for 2015 is the placement of students in classes. We have a very detailed
process at the school for placing students and rely greatly on teacher knowledge of the student and where they
would be best suited for the following year. However, there are times when we do not know all the important
factors related to student placement and ask parents to assist us.
You can help us by letting us know in writing any important factors related to your child’s placement. We already
consider friendship groups, academic ability and any recognised special needs your child may have prior to placing
them. Your request therefore, would be to provide us with any other mitigating circumstances related to your
child of which we may not be aware of.

Celebrations/Festivals theme
Please note that students are still required to wear appropriate dress to school.
Tank tops, singlets and short shorts will not be acceptable and students will be
made to cover up any clothing considered to be inappropriate. Please also be
aware that safe footwear needs to be worn – thongs and other such footwear
is deemed to be inappropriate for safety reasons.
A gold coin donation must be brought to school if your child chooses to dress
up for the day.
Year 6 Parent Information Evening
As you are all aware we recommence a Year 6 program at Kinross Primary
School next year. We would like to invite parents to an information evening
where you will get the opportunity to meet the Year 6 teachers for 2015 and to
discuss relevant details such as Student Councillors, transition to high school,
camps and the like. It will also be an opportunity to discuss any issues/concerns
you may have.
The date and time for this session is Wednesday 5th November from 6.30 to
7.30 p.m. We look forward to having as many parents as possible attending this
session.
Family Picnic/ Carols Evening
To celebrate the end of the year and to provide an opportunity for the school
staff and school community to mingle in an informal way the school would like
to have a Family Picnic followed by a Carol Singing session.
The proposed format is for parents to come to the school
with their children, have a picnic tea on the oval and then
move into the area between the Year 3 classrooms and the
Undercover Area for the singing of a few carols before going
home. Parents would make their way to the oval from 5.30
p.m. and then move up to the school at 6.30 p.m. for about
an hour of singing led by the school choir.
