How to manage with decreasing funds?
•
Continue to cut personel, costs and activities
– We cannot do everything we have done so far
– We have to have resources for new recruitment and building new
knowhow for strategic areas (existing and new)
•
Find new sources for outside financing
– New commercial business areas and clients
– Expanding current commercial activities
– Expanding jointly financed R&I project activities (EU, Tekes,
Academy of Finland)

GTK basic role

GTK's changing role in mineral exploration
•
One of the main duties of GTK is to promote exploration and mining in
Finland. => INVEST IN FINLAND!
•
GTK is responsible for national geoscientific mapping and the data which is
available in digital form, or as maps, reports and publications. => PUBLIC
NATIONAL DATA CENTER
•
GTK's role is to explore and model main geological units and their ore
potential. All discoveries are tendered to the private sector through the
Ministry. => NEW INFORMATION ON MINERAL POTENTIAL
•
Emphasis in the new strategy is to model important belts and leave detailed
exploration for companies
