over the feet.
2 As you breathe in, feel your
spine lengthen. As you
breathe out, feel the spine
relax naturally back down.
3 Now feel that you are

out from your heart, down

About Dru
about dru
We are an energetic and fresh-thinking organisation eager to
inspire a naturally healthier way of living for everybody, from
young to old, from all walks of life.
Since our birth as an organisation almost four decades ago,
when a small group of university students came together
to make a difference in the world, we have grown and now
run yoga and meditation courses and retreats across the
globe. With yoga and meditation at our core, we also offer
programmes in Ayurveda and nutrition to help relieve the
stresses of everyday living.
We founded Dru upon the ideal of giving back to the world,
and this continues to be an ideal that burns brightly for us
today. With the help of our hundreds of volunteers, we support a
variety of community projects around the world, such as free
medical camps in India and peace education programmes in
schools throughout the UK, Europe and Australia.

about dru yoga
2 EBR—Energy Block
Release
Just as a house needs electricity to
power all its appliances, so the body
requires a constant supply of prana,
or energy, to enable the organs to
function well. Energy flows freely
through the body when our lives
are harmonious and we express
ourselves easily.
Causes of energy blocks
> inadequate exercise
> poor posture
> stiff muscles and joints
> negative and inflexible patterns
of thoughts and behaviour
> unexpressed thoughts and
emotions
What happens to blocked
energy? Blocked energy lodges
itself first in our joints. If it isn’t
released, it goes deeper and settles in
the muscles and from there into the
internal organs. Unless discharged it
will eventually create an environment
in which disease can develop.
6
3 Postures & sequences
Each Dru Yoga posture and
sequence has very specific
therapeutic benefits for the body
and mind. Conscious intention
takes the healing process deeper
when you add Dru affirmations
and visualisations.
About Dru Yoga
Here’s what to expect in a typical Dru
Yoga session—the sense of wellness is
enhanced when enjoyed in the spectacular
scenery of Snowdonia National Park...
To get the most out of your yoga
practice without straining yourself,
it is essential to begin with warming
up your body. Fun, flowing activation
exercises release accumulated
tension and prepare your body
for movement.
Releasing trapped energy
Dru Yoga EBR sequences are
carefully designed movement
programmes that work
systematically through the body to
release tension and clear energy
blockages. The freed energy is then
available to be used to heal the
body and empower the mind.
4 Relaxation
Relaxation is the natural conclusion
of your yoga practice. It allows the
energy that has been activated
during movement to settle,enabling
your body to balance and heal itself.
5 Meditation
Practice of Dru Yoga clears internal
agitations, enabling your meditation
practice to become easy and
natural. The heightened sense of
awareness and clarity gained from
meditation allows you to unfold your
personal power.

about the venue
Focused breathing creates
a bridge between the body

technique to help prepare
for meditation, or to centre
yourself for meetings or
making important decisions.
3 Breathe out: the abdomen, the chest
and the shoulders relax down.

This Spinal Release technique
frees energy that has been
trapped in the spine, helping
you let go of unwanted
emotions as you go down, and
energising you as you come up.
1 Stand in the mountain pose, arms
relaxed at your sides.
2 Breathe out and drop your head
forward. On each successive outbreath, bend the spine forward
one vertebra at a time.
3 Shoulders are relaxed and arms
hang loosely. When you have
reached your natural limit, rise up
vertebra by vertebra on each
in-breath.

Bhagavad Gita & meditation
The Bhagavad Gita (a timeless manual
for successful living and spiritual
realisation) contains a detailed set of
instructions for overcoming adversity
and reaching our fullest potential.
The Gita is a dialogue between Arjuna and his
mentor, Krishna. Arjuna represents each one of
us, seeking a more fulfilling and successful life.
Krishna represents our inner wisdom, or the
still voice of spirit within.
This four day retreat in Snowdonia will
include study sessions and lectures on the
Gita, chanting sessions to help you pronounce
the verses, Dru Yoga and Meditation classes,
as well as walks in Snowdonia, weather
permitting! You’ll learn how to apply the lessons
of the Gita to your own self-development, and
ways to introduce this beautiful text into your

This Heart Kriya creates
inner balance. The power
of the heart is central to
Dru Yoga practice, and so
all techniques are directed
towards balancing and
strengthening the heart’s
electromagnetic field—
which is 5000 times
stronger than that of the
brain and extends out from
the body for several feet in
all directions. A balanced
heart rhythm helps realign all other organs and
bodily functions.
1 Choose a comfortable meditation
posture. Become aware of your breath.
Gradually extend the out-breath until it is
twice as long as the in-breath.
2 As you breathe in, mentally follow your
breath down as far as your heart.
3 As you breathe out, visualise light (or
feel a sense of lightness) flowing from
your heart to every part of your body.
With each breath, let this light become
brighter and brighter. You may feel
yourself becoming lighter and lighter.
4 After a while you will begin to feel a
spaciousness in your heart centre.
Breathe normally as you sink into a still
point in the centre of your being. Enter
more deeply into it with each breath.
Come out of the meditation, keeping
yourself anchored to this point of inner
stillness.
