PRESIDENT’S COLUMN
Hello everyone,
The "Haunted Forest" opened this weekend
with all new displays and some new actors.
What a great time. All the people that have
made this year’s event as
resounding success so far,
need to be proud of
yourselves.
Astronomical numbers
of hours are required to
hold this important event.
Next weekend I expect the
event will be bigger than
this weekend. It takes about
50-60 people per night to run the event so there
is lots of opportunity to volunteer. Thank you to
all.

Ladies night and hunting season are here. The
entertainment for meeting night will be a great
oldies show. Safe travels to all the hunters and
remember, if you have extra meat - think Wild
Game Dinner. This year I have been lucky
enough to draw two doe tags, if I get two deer I
plan on donating a whole one to the club.

Skeet and Trap is once again going to have a
winter league beginning in January. As of this
writing all the details haven't been completed.
The league is always fun with a banquet and
party at the end.
November starts our annual club elections
and the election ballots are available at the bar
starting November first. The polls close on
December meeting night at 9 P.M. sharp. Good
luck to all those that have stepped up and ran
for an office.

The Birds of Multi-Lakes
These are several species of large white birds that frequent Reed Lake each summer – one of these is
the Great Egret.
The elegant Great Egret is a dazzling sight in
many a North American wetland. They hunt in
classic heron fashion, standing immobile or
wading through wetlands to capture fish with a
jab of their yellow bill.
Great Egrets stand up to three feet tall, and
have a wingspan of almost six feet. For their size,
their body weight is only about two pounds.
Great Egrets were hunted nearly to extinction
for their plumes in the late 1800’s, sparking
conservation movements and some of the first
4
laws to protect birds.
