WELCOME TO LATE FALL SESSION 2014
Falling leaves and crisp air are sure signs that late fall is here! We’re embracing the
season with some Y favorites like the Halloween Spooktacular and adding some new
classes to the schedule like Mini Musical Theater, Artistic Adventures, Teen Create
and Cook, Teen Construction Zone, Snacks and Smocks and Budding Builders.
We’re also remaining steadfast in
our commitment to bring health and
wellness in spirit, mind and body to
the community. Join us, along with
Madison’s Downtown Development
Commission, in a Scavenger Hunt
throughout Downtown Madison in
November that will benefit our Y’s new
Community Mental Health Initiative.
As a Y member, you are also part of a
cause at a charity that is committed
to nurturing the potential of kids,
improving the health and well-being
of every member, and giving back and
supporting our neighborhood.
WE’RE MORE THAN A GYM.
WE’RE A CAUSE.
At the Y, we strengthen communities by ensuring
our neighbors have the same opportunity to learn,
grow and thrive. We welcome all and offer financial
assistance to those who otherwise could not
participate. From A to Z, our programs help people
work towards a better future.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Nurturing the potential of every child and teen.
Our Y offers a range of sports, youth leadership programs, enrichment classes, summer day camps and a
range of adult fitness and wellness programs at the Family Center. We also offer quality childcare, early
childhood education, full-day kindergarten and summer day camps at our regionally renowned F.M. Kirby
Children’s Center. Madison Day Care Center, a new addition to our Y family, has been an important part of
the community providing affordable childcare and preschool services for 48 years. Youth and teen counseling
is also available through the Y’s Project Community Pride program.
YOUTH AND TEEN COUNSELING
Project Community Pride of the Madison Area YMCA
Project Community Pride of the Madison Area YMCA, a youth counseling program
that has joined the Y as one of its community-based programs, is an important
extension of youth development services for children, teens and their families
throughout the Madison Area YMCA’s service area. The program is made possible
through the collaboration of community leaders and the municipalities and school
districts of the Chathams, Florham Park and Madison.
The program responds to the needs of the community at a time when mental health
is rapidly becoming a leading issue across our nation. Services are provided in the
schools and at the program’s offices by clinical social workers: Director Brigitte
Kelly, LCSW; Program Specialist Lara Shaljian, LCSW; and Staff Clinician Justin
Kennard, LCSW.

KWrap, Before- and After-School Care K-5
Does your kindergartner or school-age child’s Before- and After-care program
provide a safe, nurturing environment that also provides healthy lunches and
snacks, transportation to sports/enrichment programs at the YMCA and provisions
for when school is not in session?
Kirby’s K-Wrap and school-age Before- and After-Care programs offer unparalleled benefits not found in other programs including:
nutritionist-approved snacks and lunches; transportation to and from area schools to the 3-acre Kirby Center campus and the
Madison Area YMCA Family Center for a broad offering of sports/enrichment classes; and full-day care when schools close for
holiday breaks, teacher in-service days and inclement weather closings/delayed openings.
Visit www.madisonareaymca.org to learn more.
Healthy U is a collaborative partnership between the New Jersey YMCA State Alliance and the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey
with the goal of combating childhood obesity through nutrition education, physical education and family involvement. The Madison
Area YMCA is proud to incorporate Healthy U in school age programs at the Family Center, Kirby Center and Madison Day Care Center.
