About us...
Where do we camp?
Our camp site is situated at the edge of Poole Harbour, a couple a miles
from Corfe Castle on the popular Isle of Purbeck. We camp under canvas
with a fully equipped kitchen and dining marquee. All our holidays are
fully catered with cooked breakfast, packed lunch, cooked tea and evening
supper! We own all of our equipment which helps keep costs down.
How are we organised?
Each camp has its own team made up of volunteer helpers, headed up by
a senior leadership team. The senior leaders help create the holiday
programme guided by the overall aims of the organisation.
The programme is tailored to the age group of the camp and allows a
degree of choice and freedom to participate. As well as enjoying the
fantastic local beaches and countryside our camp site also has facilities for
sports and games. Each camp runs sessions aimed at encouraging the
young people to explore and understand the Christian faith.
We have campers and leaders from over 30 churches. We are
nondenominational and new leaders and churches are always welcome.
Some of the young people who attend our camps do not have an
involvement with a church. Our camps provide a wonderful experience at
great value for money.
Celebrating for over 70 years
The camps were founded in 1944 by
churches in the Bournemouth and
Poole area. We are an independent
Christian charity with a broad appeal
to young people from all over the
country and even overseas!

Group Bookings
We want to encourage and support your youth work by offering further
discounts to churches and other groups. We also welcome leaders from the
church to become part of the camp team as this is a great encouragement
to the campers and helps you follow up on their experience and growth by
“taking camp back to church”.
Register a group and save
The closing date for early discounts is extended to the end of February for
group bookings. You can register a group with only one or more campers to
take advantage of the extended date, providing the bookings are sent in
before 28th February. Family discounts also apply.
The Group Contact promotes the camps, collects the booking forms and
deposits and forwards them to the H&D Bookings Administrator. Nearer the
camp, they collect and forward the outstanding fees.
Book seven or more for further discounts
Once the number in your group reaches seven
each camper is entitled to a £10 discount over
and above the early booking discount. This
discount offer excludes Inheritance Camp.

Seeking to be the best
13
Situated on the southern edge of Poole Harbour, the beautiful Isle of Purbeck
provides a superb backdrop for an outdoor holiday. Sandy beaches and
sheltered bays are ideal for a variety of beach and water activities, with the
hills and woods surrounding the camp providing ample scope for a variety of
pursuits. The campsite itself caters for everyone from the less energetic to the
more sports minded camper, with games and sport pitches available.
Friendships develop in a caring
camp atmosphere where
Christian values are taught and
shared. The leaders at H&D
believe in the importance of every
child developing a personal
relationship with God. The study
sessions are presented in an
interesting and approachable
way, and are geared to the age
range of the camp concerned.
Every effort is taken to provide an enjoyable and safe holiday. A qualified First
Aider is always on hand, both on site and with each of the activities that
require one. No group events take place without the recommended ratio of
leaders to campers. During the night we have leaders on call for night care
duties.
High quality meals and a well balanced menu helps make a great holiday the
best. With our cooking team providing two proper meals a day, packed
lunches and supper, we aim to make sure no one goes hungry. Special dietry
requirements are not a problem and our large marquees also provide excellent
facilities for dining, communal and social events.
All outdoor pursuit activities are carried out under qualified supervision.
Either through our own leaders or by leaders hired from an activity centre and
accompanied by our own. All recommended safety equipment is always worn.

H&DCYC would simply not be here today
if it wasn’t for the generous support of
our volunteers. It is these individuals and
churches that make it possible to run
some of the best Christian summer camps
on the south coast. Find out more about
being a leader with us on our website.
We are entirely self supporting and all our
holidays have to cover their costs. To keep
our holidays as affordable as possible we
rely on gifts and grants to cover our
capital costs such as new marquees. We
are also about to rebuild our equipment
store which will give us a dry and secure
storage facility during the winter and a
base for activities during the summer.
There are lots of way you can support
God’s work through H&DCYC. We run a
monthly giving scheme, and increasing
numbers of leaders and supporters are
chosing to support us in this way from
just £2 per month.
You can also donate online through Virgin
Money Giving. See our website for details
