stsadmn utility
Need to be a member of the server computer’s
administrators group or a member of the SharePoint
administrators group
Stsadm.exe –o backup –url http://server_name/site
-filename c:\backup.dat [-overwrite]
filename paramater can be a filename, path or URL
Restore with WSS
Restore a single WSS site as needed using
stsadm utility
Stsadm.exe –o restore –url http://server_name/site filename c:\backup.dat [-overwrite]
3 options for restoring a site
Restore over an existing site
Restore a site to a new site on the same server
Restore site to a separate server with a separate
installation of WSS that uses a copy of the original
server’s configuration database
