Make sure homework is up to date each week 2. Encourage them to ask for help quickly rather than putting it off 3. Help them to find somewhere comfortable to work 4. Make sure they have the correct equipment in lessons Ensure that students have access to a Scientific calculator and that they can use it properly. They need to get used to using it. They must be able to use: Foundation x2 10 x or Exp Higher sin tan cos yx x 5. Encourage working out: Find 12% of £64 = £768 0 marks Find 12% of £64 12÷100 = 0.12 0.12 x 64 = £768 2 out of 3 marks Practical Points to help As the exam gets nearer 1. Construct a revision timetable and help students keep to it. 2. Do a smaller amount more often. 3. Help practice the past papers, each student will be given. 4. The areas they struggle on can then be revised using the relevant parts of their text books.(all students have these) Practical Points to help As the exam gets nearer 5. Make sure that they practice some questions under timed conditions. 6. If you buy a revision guide, make sure it is used. 7. Test them on key facts and formulae regularly. 8. Get them to explain how they do it to you. What do I do when things go wrong and they insist they can’t do it? CONFIDENCE
