SCHOOL WEB SITE
Our website now includes some
extra information which we hope
you will find really useful. There is
a tab with information about our
Parents' Forum, there is information about our
school curriculum so you can see what your
child is learning at school, there is information
about what each class will be learning this
year and there is a section on homework
help.
Any feedback about the website will
be gratefully received also so do please let us
know what you think.
How to support your child in maths:
fun learning sessions after half
term.
We have successfully applied for a
series of parents' maths workshops with a tutor to help you
learn about fun ways to support
your child in maths. DO NOT BE AFRAID...the
sessions are fun and you will not be expected
to be good at maths. Everyone learns together
and there is no charge.
The sessions will take place on 5 consecutive
Thursday afternoons starting on 6th November
and you should commit to attending all the
sessions. There will be opportunities at each
session to practise what you have learnt with
your child. Sessions are from 1pm until 3pm.
Only 12 spaces are available but we will keep a
waiting list for future sessions. First come, first
served. To book a space just contact the
school office and put your name down. It's as
simple as that!
Read on! Get On!
Read On, Get On, is a
national campaign to get our
children reading well by the age
of 11. Just reading with your
child ten minutes a day will make a huge
difference to their reading ability. For some
extra tips on how to support them visit :http://www.readongeton.org.uk
We are also looking for parent helpers who
can give up a small part of their week to come
into school and hear readers. If you are
interested in helping us with this, please
inform the school office or Mrs McCann.
ATTENDANCE
Congratulations to Fox class who had the
best attendance during last week with 98.7%
EASY FUNDRAISING
So far we have raised £498.26 so thanks to everyone
who is helping to raise money via this site. You shop directly
with the retailer as you would normally, but if you sign up to
http:// www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/ maylandseaprimary, and use the links on the easyfundraising site to take
you to the retailer, then a percentage of whatever you spend
comes directly to us at no extra cost to yourself.
SALE OF OLD ICT EQUIPMENT
With the purchase of our new ICT
equipment we found ourselves with
some old equipment that we are now
actively selling on eBay to recoup
some monies back into the budget.
Many thanks to Jamie Kehoe from Dengietech in
Southminster who gave his time and expertise free
of charge to check out various items to ensure they
were of a saleable nature.
TUBS 4 TABLETS
Tubs4Tablets is an exciting
initiative from Flora and
Stork, in partnership with
Tesco, which will provide
thousands of pounds worth of FREE touchscreen
tablets to registered Primary and Middle schools in
Great Britain.
Tokens are available in special 500g packs of Flora
(Original, Buttery and Light) and Stork 500g which can
be found in Tesco stores from early October. These
tokens can be exchanged for incredible touchscreen
tablets for our school!
