Additionally, when connected to exhaust, TLC-S protects from exposure to vapours, gases, fumes and particulates. Besides HEPA-filtered sterile air flow the TLC-S has 2 additional options: 1. Temperature controlled (at 50°C), sterilized laminar air flow. 2. UV-air recirculation systems for DNA/RNA inactivation in the recirculated air. 1. Thermostated Air Flow Due to the recirculation of the preheated air we guarantee not only temperature controlled working surface (at 50°C), but also uniformity of temperature inside the whole working space. As a result, instruments (e.g. rollers, rockers, vortexes and pipettes), materials (e.g. racks and pipette tips), reagents (e.g. kits for cell line expansion and differentiation, culture media and supplements), and cell lines or cell culture inoculum — all kept at the same temperature. The preheated air flow protects cell lines from possible thermal shock and prevents condensation of liquid on the upper side of culture vessels, due to the even temperature distribution inside the cabinet. 2. Physical Inactivation of DNA/RNA Inside Air Flow The TLC-S cabinet is equipped with the UV air recirculation system — using 4 UV lamps installed inside the rear wall which disinfect the laminar air flow. UV- air recirculation systems - as been shown earlier by BioSan — are highly effective against infectious biomaterials that are much smaller than HEPA filter’s pores (less than 0.3 μm), such as viruses, and DNA/RNA fragments and amplicons.
