POSITION DESCRIPTION Directorate: Division: Business Unit: Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate Policy and Cabinet Cabinet Office Position Title: Position Number: Classification: Cabinet Support Officer TBA Administrative Services Officer Grade 3 Directorate Overview CMTEDD leads the ACT Public Service (ACTPS) and provides strategic advice and support to the Chief Minister, Treasurer, Minister for Economic Development and the Cabinet on policy, financial and economic matters, service delivery and whole of government issues. The Directorate facilitates the implementation of government priorities and drives many new initiatives. The Directorate is responsible for collecting and managing taxation revenue; managing the Government's financial assets and liabilities, including superannuation liabilities and investments; and providing advice to the Government and ACT agencies on the Territory's budget and financial management, economic and revenue policy, federal financial relations, and workers’ compensation policy. The Directorate is also responsible for Shared Services which provides financial, IT and HR support across Government. The Economic Development focus is on land release, facilitating business development, investment, sport and recreation, tourism and events, arts, and other government activity, often in coordination with the private sector, to increase the economic performance of the ACT. Division Overview Policy and Cabinet Division provides advice and direction across the ACT Public Service on complex policy matters, incorporating a central agency coordination role in strategic planning, social and economic policy, spatial planning, regional policy and strategy, and across-government information and ICT strategy. The Division supports the Chief Minister, Cabinet and the Director-General as Secretary of Cabinet, through the provision of policy and support, including Cabinet secretariat functions GPO Box 158 Canberra ACT 2601 | phone: 132281 | www.act.gov.au and advice. The Division also provides secretariat and policy support to the ACT Public Service Strategic Board, chaired by the Head of Service, which comprises the DirectorsGeneral of all ACT Government agencies. The Division supports the Chief Minister and represents the ACT at intergovernmental forums, notably the Council of Australian Governments and the Council for the Australian Federation. The Division manages and coordinates the ACT's relationships with other jurisdictions, most significantly with the Commonwealth, NSW, and local councils in the region. Business Unit Overview The Cabinet Office: provides coordination and operational support to the Chief Minister, the ACT Executive, the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate and the ACT Public Service in relation to Cabinet; and coordinates and facilitates the passage of Government business in the Legislative Assembly. Duties/Responsibilities As a Cabinet Support Officer within the Policy and Cabinet Division you will: Assist in the circulation and recording of draft Cabinet Submissions, including liaison with other ACT Government Directorates; Assist with the handling and distribution of Cabinet papers and other documents to effectively meet Cabinet's requirements with particular regard to quality, accuracy and timeliness; Prepare routine correspondence and other written material with particular regard to quality, accuracy and timeliness; and Assist with the documentation and record keeping of Cabinet papers – in particular Cabinet Decisions and other Cabinet documents. Selection/Criteria 1. Knowledge of, and experience in, standard office procedures including the preparation of routine and other correspondence, record keeping, coordination and liaison with other directorates. 2. Ability to work individually and as a member of a team. 3. Ability to prioritise, exercise good judgment and work within tight deadlines. 4.
