NOVEMBER 1 & 2, 2014 ALL SOULS’ DAY
MASS INTENTIONS
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends in Christ,
This weekend, the Church throughout the world celebrates All Souls Day. On this day, we remember all the faithful
departed – especially those we have known and loved. If you
have not done so already, please turn in your envelope with the
names of your beloved deceased on them. If you misplaced
your envelope, additional ones are at the Church doors. The
envelopes will be placed next to the Tabernacle in Church, and
we will remember your faithful departed in all of the Masses in
November – the month of the Holy Souls. We also invite you all
to the Parish Memorial Mass on Monday at 7:30 pm.
While we are on the subject of the faithful departed, it
might be a good time to talk a little about archdiocesan cemeteries. As you might have heard, the Archdiocese has sold the
management rights of all diocesan cemeteries (Our Lady of
Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, by the way, is a parish cemetery, not a diocesan one) to a for-profit company. There is some
concern that this move will hurt neighborhood funeral directors
by cutting into their business.
Catholic funeral directors in our area have always been
an important part of the lives of our families. They act in a gentle and professional way when a family has a loss. There are
many Catholic funeral homes near our parish. Within the parish
boundaries, there are two: The Wm. G. Malloy Funeral Home
and the L.A. DiGiacomo Funeral Home. They are owned and
operated by former students in our school. Lou DiGiacomo
owns and operates the DiGiacomo Funeral Home. Malloy Funeral Home was just sold to Andrew Rakowski and his business partner Michael Reilly. Paul Sweeney still serves as supervisor of Malloy’s. You receive quality service from these funeral directors as you do from the other fine Catholic funeral
homes in our area, many of whose ads you see in the parish
bulletin. They are an important part of our area, and it is important that they survive. While it seems a bit awkward to ask you
to continue to patronize them, all you need to do is to remember how helpful they are if you have a loss.
On another topic, I want you to know that “Get fit with
the Fathers” is the creation of Father Sean. Last week people
were asking about “my” recipe for spaghetti squash. Cooking is
Father Sean’s specialty as is the column. We are having some
fun with it and we invite you to join the fun as we try to get fit
and maintain that fitness. We all know how hard it is to lose
weight and how easy it is to put it back on.
In closing, I want to congratulate Gene McNally on his
reception of the Ministry of Lector. Gene is in the deacon program for the Archdiocese. This reception is part of the steps
leading up to Ordination as a Deacon. Congratulations to Gene,
to his wife Janine, and to their four children, Mariah, Madison,
Brett, and Cole. We wish him the best of God’s blessings as he
takes this step toward the diaconate.
Until next week, I leave you all
In the peace of Christ,

PARISH MEMORIAL MASS: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3 AT 7:30 PM
St. Christopher Parish will celebrate a Memorial Liturgy for all the faithful departed of our
parish. In a particular way we will pray for the members of our community who have died in
the past year. Everyone is invited to participate in this Mass and to lift up in prayer their
beloved family and friends called by God to share in eternal life.
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR SICK
Get Fit with the Fathers
(NEW NAMES IN BOLD)
We had the first of 6 free Tae Kwan Do classes Tuesday night. It was fun, educational and got everyone in
the class to sweat which was the promise for those
wishing to lose weight.
If you cannot join the classes and are still thinking of
ways to begin your own weight-loss journey, consider
walking. Walking thirty minutes a day is a great way to
begin to redefine your body and kick-start your metabolism. If you cannot walk 30 minutes daily, consider
breaking those 30 minutes up into a few 10 minute
sessions throughout the week.
A great way to combine healthy spiritual growth
with exercise is to add a rosary into your routine as
well. Pray for your intentions, and share in the mysteries of Christ’s life while walking. Consider the journeys
the Lord shared with his own Mother, the Apostles
and his disciples as he proclaimed the kingdom of God.
They walked everywhere together, and there is nothing stopping you from joining in that experience.
Keep up the good work, and if you are still interested in Tae Kwan Do, call Ray Minger at 215-637-3132
to see if there is still room.
