The theme meeting will deliberate the latest advances in ultrafast processes, ultrafast optics, lasers and their applications in science and engineering Development of ultrafast sources Ultrafast methods and measurement techniques Ultrafast dynamics in chemical and biophysical processes Atomic and molecular physics Condensed matter physics and chemistry Photonics High field physics Applications Scientific sessions will include invited talks and poster presentations of contributory papers. Important Dates Last date for submission of paper: August 16, 2014. Notification of acceptance: September 15, 2014 Instruction for preparation of paper is available on http://conference.manipal.edu/ufs2014 The papers will be critically reviewed by the UFS-14 technical committee and the notification of acceptance (or otherwise) will be communicated by e-mail. Poster presentations are deemed to be MOST important in this discussion meeting. Senior organizers have elected to present their latest work in the poster session and YOU are encouraged to also do so. All poster papers will be assessed with a view to selecting the best for publication in a Special Section on Ultrafast Science in the February 2015 issue of Proceedings of the Indian National Science Academy. Important Note:All poster presentees will have to make a 2-slide, 2-minute overview of the contents of their posters during the inaugural session on 30th October 2014. Registration Fee Registration fee: Rs. 4, 500/Student registration fee: Rs. 1, 500/(Fee inclusive of break fast, lunch, dinner, local transport, accommodation and service tax) Registration fee may be paid by DD in favor of “Manipal UniversityConference/Workshop” payable at SBI, Manipal on or before September 30, 2014. The University is making a strong headway in research as well. The Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, is a centre for advanced research and teaching. It is on its way to become a leading centre for research in a vast area of atomic and molecular physics consisting of ultra-fast phenomena in atoms and molecules, light matter interactions, etc. The University is home to 28,000 students pursuing undergraduate, post graduate and Ph.D. programs in diverse subjects. Manipal weather is quite pleasant during the meeting. Manipal is well connected to the major Indian cities by road, rail and air. There are two main cities close to Manipal that serve as entry points Udupi via rail and Mangalore via air. Udupi is 5 km from Manipal and Mangalore is 65 km away. UFS-2014 Dr. Unnikrishnan V K Secretary , UFS-2014 Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, MIT, Manipal University, Manipal – 576104, PH: +91-0820-2925071/72/73/77 In recent times, significant progress has been made in the areas of ultrafast multidimensional vibrational and electronic spectroscopies, high order harmonics generation, X-ray and electron diffraction, nonlinear optics, terahertz spectroscopy and attosecond spectroscopy. Scientific questions using these methodologies are addressed in the areas of ultrafast science, which covers the area of chemical reaction dynamics in solutions, water hydration and interface dynamics, strong field effects in atoms and molecules, semiconductor and organic solids, bimolecular and photobiology, photosynthesis, metamaterials, spin, charge and lattice dynamics in highly correlated systems and nano-systems. Indian Society for Radiation and Photochemical Sciences (ISRAPS) in collaboration with the Department of Atomic and Molecular Physics, MIT, Manipal University, will be organizing a three-day theme meeting on Ultrafast Science 2014 (UFS-2014) during October 30-November 1, 2014 at Manipal University.
