Introduction
Materials chemistry laboratory has been established at the
department of chemistry in 2000 to create the facilities for postgraduate research. Recently, a renovated synthetic laboratory and
an instrumental laboratory with state-of-the-art instruments have
been established to improve the capability of the department and
faculty members to offer post-graduate (M. S., M. Phil and Ph.
D.) program. The aim of the conference on material chemistry is
to enrich the knowledge, exchange ideas and establish networks
and collaboration among the scientific community of the national
and international arena. The conference is a part of the subproject on materials chemistry under the higher education quality
enhancement program (HEQEP) which is funded by the Ministry
of Education and World Bank.
The abstract of original research work should be sent to the
Convenor /Secretary /Joint Secretary ([email protected];
[email protected]; [email protected]) by 30 October,
2014. The length of the abstract should not exceed 250 words
containing title, name of author (s), name of Institution,
Keywords typed in MS word (Times New Roman, size 12) in A4
paper.

Department of Chemistry
The department of Chemistry of Shahjalal University of Science
and Technology was established in 1990. Over the last two
decades the department has gradually emerged as a major place
of teaching and research in chemistry. The department now offers
the up-to-date curriculum in all branches of chemistry for
undergraduate and graduate studies. There are 25 teachers in the
departments who are engaged in teaching and research programs.
The research laboratories of the department are equipped with the
start-of-the-art
instruments
FT-IR
and
UV-Vis
spectrophotometers, Fluorometer, Electrochemical Workstation,
Thermogravimetric Analyzer (TGA), Differential Scanning
Caloremeter (DSC), Gel Permeation Chromotography System
(GPC) and Polarized Optical Microscope (POM).

Abstracts are invited for oral and poster presentations in the
