A Note from Father Yanta Welcome to St. John’s Opening Prayer O God, glory of the faithful and life of the just, by the Death and Resurrection of whose Son we have been redeemed, look mercifully on your departed servants, that, just as they professed the mystery of our resurrections, so they may merit to receive the joys of eternal happiness. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Pray for Our Sick Since November is the month we celebrate the victory of All Saints and hold All Souls in our prayer, I am including two prayers. One that we use for our opening prayer at All Souls Day Mass. The other is a prayer for our young people that they will have a deep relationship with our living God and become living saints. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen. Prayer for Young People Heavenly Father, Bless and protect all young people. Enliven the gift of faith that you placed within them at their baptism. Open their heart to experience your love. Draw them closer to you in a personal relationship. Let them know that you are always with them. Fill them with your Holy Spirit. Guide them to good friends. Bring back those who wander from you, that they might know and love your Son, Jesus. Amen. We would like to welcome all those visiting with us today. Stewardship Update Currently 55 families have responded to our challenge to participate in our stewardship drive. This represents approximately 10% of our parish family of almost 590 families! This is a good start, but we need another 240 to participate to hit our goal of 50% participation for the parish! Open Hours: Tuesday 7am (winter sub needed for January—March) Friday 3:00am Saturday 1:00pm Just a reminder, the chapel is closed and locked on: Saturday 12am-5am, Sunday 1am-4am & Wednesday 12am-9am Knights of Columbus Corner Meeting: Nov. 11th, 6:15 PM Mass with meeting to follow and lunch after. Attention: Pancake Breakfast—Nov. 23rd, following all Masses! Volunteer to help by calling 952-200-7435. Through these 55 families, we have been able to raise almost $540,000. What a great way to start a campaign! For those that have yet to commit to the stewardship drive, we encourage you to do so over the next few weeks. We look forward to the coming weeks and continuing to update you on the great progress we are making. As Catholic men we are all given a Vocation. Help fulfill your Vocation—join the Knights of Columbus and share in Fraternity, Unity, Charity and Patriotism. Membership Weekend: Nov. 15th and 16th. The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica As we pray today for an increase of spiritual gifts, we are reminded by the bishops’ pastoral on stewardship that good stewardship of the Church “means cherishing and fostering the gifts of all, while using one’s own gifts to serve the community of faith.” Parish Council Meeting October 28th • • • • • Dave Ortman, Capital Campaign manager, briefed the Council on the plan and timeline to complete our goal of paying off the debt within 5 years. The Stewardship committee also has plans to recognize the time and talent contributions made to the parish. Much discussion on how the Council can evangelize to build and strengthen our faith community. In addition to promoting our social events such as Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, offering retreats and activities with a spiritual focus for married couples, teens, and seniors was suggested and strongly encouraged. Roof and gutter repairs will be completed midNovember weather permitting. A generous donation has been received to help cover the costs. Committee reports were received from GROW, Fall Festival, Faith Formation, Finance, School Board, Liturgy, Maintenance and Cemetery with summaries and updates provided in future bulletins. After Mass reception(s) to honor and thank Sister Mary for her service to St. John’s is planned for Nov 1516. She will be moving to Mankato in December. From the Parish Administrator Due to the amount of work and effort put into the Capital Campaign Planning, we decided to wait in mailing the Contributions Statements and the Fiscal 2013-14 Year End Financial Report. We will provide an update in the following weeks. Momnipotent Open-House Tuesday, November 11, 2014, 7 pm in the Youth room. Moms at any stage of parenting are invited to attend.
