AUCTIONEER
For Larry Flynn, performing
in front of an audience
has been a way of life. The
former radio broadcaster’s
professional microphone
experience began in 1977
when he was billed as the
youngest Ringmaster in the world with an
Australian circus. Larry has been the emcee or
auctioneer for hundreds of charity events all
over America. From auctions in school gyms
to the Waldorf-Astoria in NYC, he has been
2
involved with every level of fundraising event and
has helped to raise millions of dollars for charitable
causes. Larry worked many events around the
country for Christopher Reeve supporting spinal
cord research and has been involved locally as
the auctioneer for FUNDSY, Make-A-Wish, Boys
& Girls Club, Opera Idaho, Boise Philharmonic,
Boise Art Museum, Idaho Botanical Garden, Boy
Scouts, BBSEF, Epilepsy Foundation and many
more. Larry’s voice has been heard regularly over
the years on radio ads for Sun Valley Resort. A
Sun Valley transplant to Boise resident since 2003,
Larry is proud to be a part of the fundraising efforts
for Bishop Kelly tonight!
Dear Friends and Family of
Bishop Kelly:
On behalf of the Bishop
Kelly Foundation Board of
Directors, I want to once
again thank you for your support of Bishop Kelly High
School. Your continued support has truly influenced so many lives of the
past and present students of Bishop Kelly.
It is hard to believe that Bishop Kelly is celebrating 50 years! So much has changed, but excellence has always been a constant. The legacy of
the school really stretches beyond 50 years, with
St. Teresa’s establishing the original model for
the success of BK. To all of those alums of St.
Teresa’s, I send our sincere thanks and gratitude.
While the school owes a great deal of gratitude
to everyone that passed through the halls of
Bishop Kelly and St. Teresa’s, it may be more
telling how much support for the school comes
from those that did not attend these schools.
There is recognition of greatness and wanting to
be associated with a school that does not compromise its standards. The graduation rate, the
percentage of those going to college, the percentage of those graduating from college, the scholar-
ships received, and the numbers are the envy of
every school in the Northwest. Because of your
generosity and support, the school continues to
excel in every aspect.
Bishop Kelly continues to enjoy an increase in
enrollment, but increased enrollment also brings
increased expense. Your support tonight helps
students that desperately want to attend Bishop
Kelly but may not have the financial ability.
Many of these students that have received assistance have gone on to great things, and this happens because of you.
The future for Bishop Kelly is indeed very bright.
I hope all of you are very proud of your contributions to the school and its success. Please
enjoy yourself this evening knowing that your
contributions are very meaningful and very measurable!
Sincerely,
David J. Bruce
President, Bishop Kelly Foundation
Support our Donors
Please remember to support all
our donors who graciously and
generously support Bishop Kelly.
3
It is our pleasure to welcome
each of you to the 2014
Bishop Kelly Foundation
Winner’s Choice Dinner and
Auction. This year’s event is
even more special because
we are celebrating the 50th
anniversary of the founding
of Bishop Kelly High School.
Your presence here is a true
testament to the fact that,
collectively, we can continue
to make a tremendous
difference in the lives of the
young men and women who
choose to attend Bishop Kelly
High School.
We have been blessed here at Bishop Kelly by
the commitment and generosity of our many
friends in the community. Your support tonight,
as well as your support of the Foundation and
our school, has helped us in two significant
ways. First of all, the Foundation was able
to provide a $460,793 grant to our general
operating budget. It enables us to keep our
tuition significantly lower than it otherwise
would be and the lowest among Catholic
high schools in the Northwest. Secondly, the
Foundation’s additional grant for scholarships of
over $357,000 allowed us to provide need-based
financial aid to over 166 students and families
who might not have otherwise been able to
attend Bishop Kelly. For those of us who believe
in the value of a Bishop Kelly education, your
dedication allowed us to provide this wonderful
gift to those families.
4
in merit-based scholarships; their SAT and ACT
scores increased 7% and 4% respectively and
were in the top 10% nationally and the highest
in the state; they contributed over 15,000
hours of community service; and, they won
3 state championships and 3 academic state
championships.
We begin this 2013/2014 school year with a
4% increase in enrollment to 751 students, our
highest enrollment in the 50 year history of
the school. To keep our class sizes small and
replace departing teachers, we added five new
talented faculty and staff members to our already
outstanding faculty and staff. We also are the first
high school in Idaho to deploy 1:1 computing,
what we call “Power Up”. Finally, we have a very
healthy financial situation. It is important we
continue to be good stewards of the gifts we have
been given by our generous community.
But we have lots more to do. To achieve our
vision of “a Catholic community achieving
excellence in learning, service, and life”, we
must get better in every area of our school –
in our Learning and Spiritual Environments,
Curriculum, Professional Development, Activities,
Partnerships, Technology, Brand and our culture
– what we call the BK Way. We are also working
on our vision for the future – what we call BK
2020 – and we will be sharing it with you this
evening. We just finished Phase 1 which added
seven new classrooms, eight new tennis courts
and an expanded and renovated library.
On behalf of our students and our faculty and
staff, please accept our heartfelt gratitude for all
you do for Bishop Kelly High School.
The past school year, 2013/2014, had many
highlights: 98% of the class of 2014 went on to
college; 83% of them received over $18 million
Enjoy your evening, best of luck in your bidding,
and God bless you all.

Balloon purchase and Silent and Live Auctions. An
assigned bidding number will be given upon registration. There will be one bidding number per ticket
per couple unless otherwise requested.
BALLOONS
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Bishop Kelly students will
circulate through the crowd selling balloons in the
following denominations: White-$25; Black-$50; and
Gold-$100 each. Each balloon will be tagged with a
slip of paper identifying the merchandise or service
you have purchased. Payment for the balloons may
be made at the cashiers’ station. To claim your merchandise, take your paid receipt to inventory control.
The tag from the balloon is not sufficient to claim
your item(s).
golden ticket raffle
The students will be selling golden raffle tickets, which
you my purchase using your bid number. The drawing will take place before dinner. The golden ticket
prize is your choice of a $5,000.00 tuition voucher to
the school of your choice OR a choice of any live auction item. Prize is taxable.
SILENT AUCTION
Silent Auction bidding begins at 5:30 p.m. Only
your bidding number will be accepted. We ask that
you check your number carefully to avoid entering
someone else’s number. A starting bid and minimum increases have been pre-printed on the bid
sheets. To enter a bid, write your bid number next
to any amount on the sheet that has not been taken
by another bidder. The winner will be the number
next to the highest bid amount at the conclusion
of the Silent Auction. You may also write your bid
number next to the amount in the guaranteed winning bid space which will guarantee that you are
the winning bidder on that item. No additional bid
sheets will be placed. Tables will close at 8:15 p.m.
sharp. Cashiers will tabulate the results and you will
be able to pay for and pick up your items beginning
at 10:00 p.m.
LIVE AUCTION
The Live Auction will begin at 8:30 p.m. The auctioneer will verbally auction every Live Auction
item listed in the program and on the addendum, if
applicable. Bidders may bid by raising their bidding
number. Upon the auctioneer’s determination of the
6
highest acceptable bid, the bid award will be recorded by bidder number and name. The auctioneer is
the sole judge and the final authority for determining the highest acceptable bid.
PAYMENT
Payment may be made at the cashiers’ station any
time between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. However,
FULL PAYMENT MUST BE MADE ON SATURDAY,
NOVEMBER 1, 2014. Payment can be made by cash,
check, Visa or MasterCard, or American Express.
RECEIVING
Each successful bidder will receive a receipt from
the cashier identifying his purchase. For your convenience, all gifts will be held in a receiving area at
the back of the room. You will be able to claim your
purchases upon presentation of your receipt to the
volunteers in this area. All items must be removed
from the Boise Centre by the end of the evening.
There will be limited pick-up time on Sunday,
November 2, 2014, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 am for
larger merchandise. Use the Grove Street entrance.

beauty of this roadless section of the South
Fork of the Boise River (between Anderson
Ranch Dam and Arrowrock Reservoir). This
little-known gem in Boise’s back yard offers
amazing canyon beauty and wildlife including bald eagles, river otter, and more. There
are few fishermen in this remote area, resulting in one of Idaho’s best trout fisheries with
large, aggressive fish. You’ll also experience a
whitewater adventure as the river narrows to a
steep descent into the lower section of the canyon. Your guides, Mike and Tim, have run this
river many times, and will be able to share their
advice, wit and wisdom. Includes transportation to & from river, a “semi-gourmet” lunch,

Bishop Kelly Commemorative 50th Anniversary
Original Canvas Print
Bishop Kelly High School opened its doors on
August 30, 1964, and this year we celebrate its
50th anniversary. To commemorate this golden
event, Ward Hooper was commissioned to create a special work of art, and the original canvas
print of that design is available this evening.
The BK Chapel cross rises against a blue sky
and atop the BK skyline, all of which is overlaid by a 50th anniversary seal. Ward Hooper’s
unmistakable style is evident in the design for
his collectors who are Bishop Kelly supporters.
