A TASTE OF THE BRAHMA TECH INTERNSHIP
This past summer, I interned at the Boeing Company's facility in Huntington Beach. This internship
allowed me to experience working in a workplace environment and collaborating with professional
engineers and chemists. My work at Boeing largely consisted of data analysis of electrical components
required to assemble missiles. At Boeing, I had the opportunity to network with high school students from
other schools during bonding activities and technical workshops. On top of this, I had the privilege of
shadowing under component engineers and chemical analysts and gather an idea of what kinds of work
that jobs in these fields call for.

THE OFFICER BOARD
Welcome, Valerie Tsao, as our new Brahma Tech freshmen representative!
A Special Bio Written by Our New Freshmen Representative:
Hey guys, I’m Valerie Tsao, the new Class of 2018 Student Representative! I’ll be working with the other
class reps to make the monthly newsletter. So I thought it would be nice to introduce myself to those of you
who don’t know me yet. I generally enjoy hanging around with friends, reading, and painting on my own.
I’m not a particularly athletic person, but I love watching basketball games (Go Lakers!). Joining the
Brahma Tech Academy has always been a given for me because of my interests in inventing, engineering,
and technology. I sincerely believe that this program can expand our understanding in multiple STEM fields
and introduce us to future career opportunities. As the years progress, I hope to gain more experience and
further develop my knowledge as a BT student.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What kind of internships are out there?
There are many kinds of internships that fit the Brahma Tech requirements. There are many college summer
programs offered by colleges all over the country including UCLA, USC, Stanford, MIT, and many more.
Students can also consider doing research with professors from local colleges or ask their parents and
relatives about internships at their companies. Remember that connections are always great sources for
possible internships. If all else fails, you can always just search for available internships using Google.
Although finding an internship is primarily a self-endeavour, Brahma Tech also connects you with several
internship opportunities, including USC SHSARP and the Boeing internship.
Make sure to check that whatever internship, program, or research position you choose meets the internship
requirements! They must also be approved by Mrs. Gallardo.
2. What happens if I can’t find an internship?
Inability to find an internship ultimately means dropping out of the Brahma Tech program, but don’t think
that you won’t find one! Connections and applications are everywhere. Go to your friends and family. START
Early. Look for internships as soon as possible and make sure to check it meets the requirements of the
academy.
3. What are the Brahma Tech graduation requirements?
Students in Brahma Tech must take Computer Systems either during the summer before Freshman year or
during their Freshman year. Students who successfully complete Computer Systems will receive 10 credits
towards their 50 credit requirement. Another 10 credits will be earned through the mandatory Internship
course completed during Junior and Senior year (more information on the Internship page). This leaves 30
credits to be fulfilled by taking other Brahma Tech classes. Within the 30 credits, 10 are offered for some AP
science or math classes, and 20 are offered for those classes if they are IB students. This leaves 2 more
Brahma Tech courses. Students are also required to obtain a B or better in Algebra I or higher and an overall
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
