Prime cattle to 197ppk and £1370
Barren cows to 141ppk and £1010
Prime Cattle – No great improvement in the general quality forward but those on offer met a stronger trade. Top
price per kilo was 197 pence given for a 28 month Blonde steer from John Canham of Hatherleigh which realised £1180.
Charolais’ steers off the same farm ran to 188ppk and £1091. Francis Brewer of Silverton saw British Blue steers sell to
191ppk as well finished South Devon bullocks from the late John Carter of Ottery St Mary made to 187ppk and £1370.
Over Thirty Month cattle reached 187ppk and £1268, again for John Canham as older Friesian steers from Messrs Mills of
Lapford sold to £1209.
Barren Cows – Cows sold to a top of 141ppk for the best of a consignment of South Devons from Messrs Harvey
Brothers of Plymouth with highest total price going to R & MJ Tucker of East Prawle with well-bred Angus cows selling to
124ppk and £1010. Blonde cross Galloway cows from Mary Alford of Tavistock hit 127ppk as Michael Scott of
Drewsteignton sold his Blonde for 126ppk. Best Limousin cows ran to 125ppk for Gerald Vallance of Ashburton whilst
Simmentals reached 123ppk for the Wayland family of Exeter. Moorland bred sorts from Tom Havill of Widecombe in
the Moor rose to 110ppk and £819 for Welsh Blacks while Dairy types sold to 118ppk and £940 for a Friesian from
Andrew Rodd of Lapford.

sell to 148ppk or £43 for Messrs Abel Bros of Tavistock. Mule wethers sold to £67.80, £67.50 & £67.20 for Peter Heard
of Okehampton, £66.20 for Willie & Anne Willcocks of Ivybridge and 154 & 153ppk (twice) for Matt & Neil Cole of
Yelverton. A superb run of fifty-three Scotch wethers from Michael Wonnacott of South Zeal met with plenty of interest
and sold to £64.80, £62, £61.80 and £60 or 151, 150 and 145ppk. Overall average of 154ppk is 4 pence better than last
Monday.
719 CULL EWES & 20 RAMS
All cull sheep were a dearer trade, especially the better end. Rams to £110 for a pair from Phil Trump of Newton Abbot
who also sold pens of ewes at £100, £99.50, £99 & £95.50. Ian Pugsley of High Bickington sold a ram at £102 and another
pair at £95.50 while Willie & Anne Willcocks reached £98 and David Harris of Dartmouth sold two at £94.50. David
Harris also topped the ewe section with three heavy Suffolk x ewes selling to £107.50, a similar single to £102.50 for
Messrs Lucas & Ridge of Chulmleigh and large pens of crossbred ewes to £102 for Phil Lee of Tedburn St Mary, £101 for
Messrs Tucker Crooke Burnell of North Tawton. £100 for both Lyn Loosemore of Yeoford and Sue Veysey of
Cullompton followed closely by Richard Yabsley of Dartmouth at £99.50 and Robert Partridge of Teignmouth at £99.
Strong Dorset and Dorset crosses into the early £90s, Mules to £75 for Ken Pleace and hill ewes a decent trade too,
considering the number on offer. Overall average of £59.59 is back £2 due to the quality, trade was stronger.

Vacancy at the Exeter Livestock Centre
Rural Professional Secretary
The role: We are looking for a full-time Rural Professional Secretary to cover a period of maternity leave and to support
the Rural Chartered Surveyor based in our busy Exeter Livestock Centre office.
The candidate will have excellent customer service and communication skills, a methodical nature and the ability to work
under pressure. Applicants need to be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office, organised and have a
professional telephone manner. In addition, the successful candidate will be bright, cheerful, willing to help and quick to
learn as well as have the ability to use initative and work confidently on their own or as part of a team. Likely duties will
include dealing with clients face to face and by telephone, audio typing, and undertaking various administration duties
(such as formal document preparation and be able to research basic information). A full UK driving licence is desirable
and previous secretarial experience is an advantage. Immediate start available for the successful candidate. An interest in
agricultural matters would also be advantageous.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.45am till 5.30pm but additional hours may be required from time to time. To apply
