Carter-Thoman, Ladies Auxiliary President NEWS BRIEFS Rumor Mill - Answers to recent rumors heard in the canteen. Rumor: Only family and friends of Board members and management get free drinks. This is incorrect. All Veteran members, Ladies Auxiliary members and social members are eligible to earn free drinks by volunteering to help with things that benefit the Post. This could include helping with a Post event or volunteering to help with maintenance, upkeep or beautification. Likewise, employees who volunteer beyond their paid hours may also earn free drinks if they are a member of the Post. Members who attend the Home Association Meeting also receive chips for free drinks. Want a free beer – volunteer! Rumor: The Post has reduced the amount of its donation to the Children's Christmas party due to lack of funds. This is incorrect. The question of rising costs for the Children's Christmas Party was raised by the Ladies Auxiliary and after discussion it was recommended by the Post that the gifts for children be capped at $15.00 for each child with the Post contributing $7.50 toward that cost. Walk of Heroes - Tuesday, November 11 (rain date Nov. 13) at Papermakers Stadium, Roth’s Church Road will be a day that members of the armed forces, police & emergency units will be honored by individuals walking laps in the stadium. The day will start with an opening ceremony, performed by our Post, at 6 am in the stadium, the track will be available all day for walking laps and the day will end at 6 pm with a closing ceremony. Have a veteran in your life that you would like to walk with? Please invite them. Pledges for your walk are being collected to fund the completion of the Veterans’ Memorial Garden on the school campus. Details & pledge forms are available at sgasd.org & at the Post.
