THIS WEEKEND at UU DANBURY
Sunday, November 2nd
• Membership Sunday - ONE Service – 10:00 a.m.
We will be honoring new, current and deceased members. Membership Anniversaries will be noted and
there will be an opportunity to sign the Membership Book.
Barbara’s Quote of the Week
“This is not about whether one can be good without God, because that question does not need to be answered- it
needs to be rejected outright. To suggest that one cannot be good without belief in God is not just an opinion, a
mere curious musing- it is a prejudice. It may even be discrimination. After all, would you ever ask: Is it
possible to be a good person if you are Muslim? Or Buddhist? Or Jewish? Or Christian?
Would you be comfortable working for an employer who implied that all gays and lesbians were immoral? Or
all Democrats? Or Republicans? Or all Protestants? This is the sort of all-or-nothing condemnation of a huge
population one is making if one suggests that goodness and morality require belief in a deity. “
From Greg Epstein’s Good Without God
This Sunday, there will be an RE Worship Circle for children in prek-5th/6th grade. The theme is
“Membership” and we will start right at 10:00 in the House. Junior High Youth Group (6th-8th grade) is
BOWLING on Saturday, so they won’t have programming on Sunday morning. Of course, they are welcome to
attend the service. Senior High Youth are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the adult service on “Belonging:
The Deeper Meaning of Membership”. Services like this one truly help bridge the gap between UU youth and
adults.
If your child missed the Musician’s Meeting this past Sunday but still wishes to bring music to UUCD
worship, please look for a form attached to the weekly RE email, fill it out, and return it to Darlene on Sunday
(or scan it and email it to [email protected]).

Rev. Frank Hall will lead the services on We are Job’s Children. Job suffered great losses – children,
wealth, and health. In the depth of his deep grief he wished he had never been born. His friends failed
him. Eventually he regained his health and wealth. What, if anything, does this reveal about our own
suffering?

Other Important Information
Food Offering Volunteers Needed - We are doing a wonderful job donating food during our Sunday service
Food Offering. We need more people to volunteer to drop the food off at ARC during the week. Please
consider volunteering to drop our weekly food offering off at ARC. The sign-up sheet is in the food offering
basket in the front of our sanctuary. Just sign up for any Sunday that is convenient for you, then on
that Sunday weigh the food using the scale in the food basket, and drop it off at ARC during that week at your
convenience. If possible please consider doing this periodically. Thank you for your generous spirits.
Flowers brighten up the sanctuary and are a great way to remember loved ones, special events, honor
someone’s birthday or anniversary, or for any other occasion. Please sign up to bring flowers to a service this
year. A note will be included in the OOS each week with the name of the person donating the flowers and the
occasion for which they were donated. Look for the sign-up sheet in the back of the Fellowship Hall.
