Local singer and guitarist Richard Baummer brings his eclectic mix of unique covers and original material to the Java
Room’s intimate setting. Selections range from singer-songwriter classics in original arrangements to contemporary
alternative pieces. With his clean baritone, he has an affinity for songs that tell a story, evoke a treasured memory, or
are just plain fun.
11.01.2014 • Craig Sonnenfeld & Junko Ogawa
A Boston based singer-songwriter whose original songs have been broadcast nationally and internationally on over
100 radio stations. Craig performs both his own original ballads and also older traditional blues-based songs of artists
such as Mississippi John Hurt and Skip James. His vocals and finger-picking guitar style have won him praise from
many in the local singer songwriter and music community over the past few years. Born and raised in Japan,
Junko is a singer- songwriter with passion for expression of emotion and communication through song. Her musical
foundation is a classical piano, but her music is a eclectic mix of blues, folk, jazz, R&B, and rock. She sings in English
and Japanese on piano and guitar. Junko is actively performing in Boston area.

Joe plays for your listening pleasure on the first Sunday of each month! You will hear recognizable melodies composed
by Carmichael, Ellington, Gershwin, Rodgers, Jobim, Carole King, Jimmy Webb, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and the
Beatles. Joe’s playing is influenced by Bill Evans, George Shearing, Art Tatum, Dave McKenna, Chopin, and many of
our fine local pianists.

Appearing the first Friday of each month at The Java Room, the trio consists of Morgan Scott on piano, Sven Larson
on bass and Ed Conley on drums, percussion. “We create adventurous music of the moment...”spontaneous
composition” at times and traditional jazz standards at others. Sometimes a quick burst of an idea comes across one
of our minds’ ear, and if we are free of ourselves we let that idea emerge. The rest of the group will react to the idea,
or the idea presented exists as a counterpoint to whatever is already going on in the music. The result can be
astounding...and not so astounding...but it will always be.

Legendary pianist Harvey Diamond and bassist Jon Dreyer perform jazz standards and songs from the Great American
Songbook, "honing gems...into personal statements that leave us yearning for more...Diamond is a master of both
melody and harmony much like his predecessors in the legacy of jazz piano, Bill Evans and Lennie Tristano." The duo
will be performing for us the evening of every 2nd Saturday of the month as well as every Saturday brunch time. You

Jazz pianist Ed Mascari leads this energetic and cohesive ensemble that features Rebecca Wellons (saxophone and
flute) and Marliese Ballon (upright bass). This tight-knit trio performs arrangements of such songs as The Way You
Look Tonight, Wave, Someday My Prince Will Come and Take Five plus a few inspiring originals all guaranteed to keep
a smile on your face and your feet tapping. They have performed at such venues as the Harvest Cafe (Hudson), Viva
Bene (Worcester) and Ken’s Steak House (Framingham) as well as giving concerts at the Hudson, Stow and Wayland
libraries.

Trusting Fate is bolstered by a genuine passion for creating imaginative, unexpected music that combines elements of
rock, folk, bluegrass, roots and blues into a fresh, powerful sound. Versatile multi-instrumentalists Paul Therkelsen
(guitar, harmonica, vocals), Mike O’Brien (mandolin, violin, guitar, keyboards), Susanna Doyle (vocals, keyboards)
and Nate Ranney (bass) spin playful melodies and blend rich harmonies with crisp lyrics.

John Matrona is a featured pianist at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston and at Joseph's Winter St. Café in
Newburyport. Having studied both classical and jazz piano at the Berkeley College of Music, he is the concert pianist
for the New England Continental Orchestras. He has also performed with the Arthur Bakopolus Jazz Quintet for
Malden and Everett Cable TV Studios, and Mike Finegold, noted Flute Master with the Prague Symphony Orchestras.
11.21.2014 • Markus Pinney Jazz Trio
The trio performing this evening has Markus Pinney on piano along with drummer, Grant Smith and bassist, Ralph
Pepe. Markus Pinney displays his talents as an accomplished jazz pianist, improviser and original vocalist. The
dynamic interplay among the group offers engaging interpretations to an eclectic mix of musics drawn from jazz and
blues idioms, as well as Markus’ compelling original compositions. He has played in and around the greater Boston
area for over 20 years with his 'mp3' jazz trio. Both Grant Smith and Ralph Pepe have been performing in and around
New England for over 25 years.
11.22.2014 • The Trude Witham Group
The Trude Witham Group, led by saxophonist Trude Witham, has performed over the past seven years at The Java
Room, as well as other area venues. The group plays a mix of jazz standards, contemporary pieces and originals.
Joining Trude will be Ted Osborne on guitar, Charlie Recchia on bass and David Knauss on drums. Ted plays guitar in
the Indian Hill Big Band and the Jack Welsh Big Band, and also performs with Jack Morash and John Matrona. Charlie
Recchia performs with the Metrowest Jazz Project, Jean Mancini Gough and Matt Boland, as well as other area
musicians. David Knauss plays regularly with the Trude Witham Group and other area bands. We hope you will join
us for a fun evening!

Jazz, Blues, Funk and more is the short description when it comes to the O.G.D Trio (Organ, Guest and Drums). Every
month they invite a different guest artist to join the core organ and drum duo. We hope you can come out and hear
the music and see who is joining this month. They will be playing some OGD originals, Beatles, Steely Dan, Pink
Floyd, Santana and some great Jazz Standards. Steve Esposito is on the Hammond Organ and Joe Lis is on Drums.
