Countdown party
begins at Oliveto
A TOP female DJ will perform for the second time
in Bahrain when she spins
at the Oliveto Italian restaurant’s Countdown 2011
New Year’s Eve Party this
weekend.
Austrian DJ Martina
Kaiser topped the list of
Austria’s female DJs on website www.thedjlist.com, while
she is also a former number
one female DJ on www.djette.
com. The DJ, singer, model,
songwriter and TV show presenter is known for her vocal,
club and electro house tunes.
She began her career on
Austria’s ORF Hitradio OE3
radio station while still the
vocalist for synth-pop band
Philomena’s Garden.
Martina then focused on
electro music as a solo act
named Tinka and recorded
tracks with her DJ brother

Jon, Manfred Hermann and Dr
Atmo in Berlin after she set up
the Superbitch Records label.
She has also experimented
with R&B music using
German lyrics and collaborated with New York’s Chyke
David Jones and FM Habla.
When she resumed working on electronic music, she
worked with compatriot DJ
Wolf, Sebastian Vox, Nathan
Jay, Mark Kamins, Juan
E, Joe Moreno and Klaus
Biedermann.
Apart from venues in Vienna
and Austria, Martina has also
taken the stage in Morocco,
New York, Tunisia, Hong
Kong, the Philippines, Milano,
Germany, Abu Dhabi, Dubai,
Russia, Spain and Ukraine.
She has been a constant
performer at top level fashion
events and product launches
for brands, including Roberto
Cavalli, Chanel, Calvin Klein
and Fashion TV.
Doors open at 7pm on Friday
at the Adliya restaurant.

Celebration event at the il
Giardino restaurant this
weekend.
The New Year’s Eve celebration will see the band
perform sizzling jazz and
“smooth-edgey” music, at
the restaurant located at
the Elite Seef Residence
and Hotel poolside, Seef,
said organisers.
Incorporating elements
of blues music in their
original compositions, the
Tryout has showcased its
talent at local events, on
TV and on radio performances.
The band was formed
in 2006 by Faisal Sheikh
and Mohammed Adel and
received a boost in popularity following its performances at the Elham
Festival last year.
Their repertoire includes
soul and Latin jazz.
Tickets cost BD30 and
BD25 for people aged 18
and above.
