COMPUTER TECHNICIAN II
The primary duties of this position include providing help desk as
well as on site hardware and software support to Aspen View Public
Schools. We provide educational services to 3000 students in grades
K-12. The Division Office is located in Athabasca. Our schools are
located in communities throughout the Counties of Smoky Lake,
Thorhild, Athabasca and the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River.
The position will be based in either the town of Athabasca or the
village of Thorhild depending on applicants. Only applicants currently
eligible to work in Canada will be considered.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications:
•Adiplomaordegreeinarelatedarea
•RequiredSkills:
o Training in the setup and maintenance of computers
and servers in a Windows Domain
o Help Desk and customer service.
o Knowledge of LANs and TCP/IP
o Imaging and deployment software such as
Symantec Ghost and Microsoft SCCM
o Microsoft Office 2007 thru 2013 applications
o Windows Server 2008-2012 and Active Directory
o Strong communication, interpersonal and documentation skills
•DesiredSkills:
o Microsoft Exchange 2007-2013, Microsoft SQL Server 2008+
o Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 and VMWare 5+
•Additionalskillswhichwouldbeanasset:
o TCP/IP Routing and firewalls, Unix and Linux

Smith School, located in the Town of Smith, provides educational
services to approximately 70 students in grades K-12. This medical
leave temporary position will commence on Monday, December
1, 2014 and will include 0.5 FTE in the classroom and 0.2 APPLE
Schools Health Facilitator. The teaching assignment will include, but
is not limited to Grade 7 – 9 Science, Grade 8/9 Math, Grade 7 Social
Studies and several elective courses. Smith School is a Leader in Me
school therefore a knowledge of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective
People and The Leader in Me would be considered an asset.

Each year the members of Aspen View Local of the Alberta
Teachers’ Association award up to three (3) scholarships of
$1000.00 each to graduates of the school division who are
in their third, fourth, or fifth year in Faculty of Education
in the Province of Alberta.
Eligible applicants must demonstrate satisfactory academic
standing by sending a copy of their university transcripts
with their application. Each application must be submitted
in the form of an essay of approximately 500 words
which outlines the applicants’ educational background,
community and school involvement, future plans, and
knowledge of the A.T.A’s duties and responsibilities. As
part of the selection process, all candidates may be required
to attend a personal interview.

Ronald Wagner
On Oct. 23, 2014 Ron Wagner of
Athabasca passed away
suddenly at the age of 63 years.
Ron was raised by the Pembina
River in Lunnford, Alberta. Ron
& Annie (nee Henderson) were
married in 1974 and moved to
Athabasca in 1977 to start
Riverside Machine & Welding
Ltd.
Ron apprenticed many
young men over the past 37
years.
Athabasca was great place to
raise a family with the large
farming and industrial community
to service. In 1985, they bought
what was to be just a small
recreational acreage farm, but
the farmer in him turned it into
more livestock and land.
Athabasca was definitely home,
as it also provided all of his
favorite recreational opportunities
to do with family and friends.
The camping, quadding,
snowmobiling, the fishing and
hunting could not equal
anywhere else.
Many times
there where 3 generations joining
in the fun.
Many of the shop’s customers
and friends speak of challenges
they brought to him over the
years and how he somehow
always found a way to make it
work.
Friends, family and neighbors
speak highly of the man who
loved life to the fullest. How he
worked hard and how he played
hard.
Ron was a great family man. His
7 grandchildren will miss his
delight in them. They miss their
“Grampa”!
Ron is survived by his loving wife
of 40 years, Annie; his three
sons: Kevin(Angela) Wagner of
Athabasca, Michael(Brandie)
Wagner of Calgary, Travis(Micki)
Wagner of Calgary; seven
grandchildren: Rylan, Bethannie,
