VICE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE –
John Clark, Consumers Eye
Our business community in Pasadena has many
services to offer us this fall. We hope you have
joined us for the PBA Trade Show, where 40
local businesses will show you what that have to
offer. REMEMBER YOUR LOCAL
BUSINESS that supported your sports team or
community group. When we started SHOP
LOCAL over 5 years ago we intended to show
Pasadena residents how important it is to the
economic health of our area to use a local
business as often as possible so that they can
return the favor.
Remember the Caring and Sharing Parade
Sunday November 2, 2014. We will be
collecting food donations for those families in
need as we head into the holidays.
Enjoy the cool temperatures and fall colors, but
most of all visit a PBA approved business today.

County Budget. The new station will house the fire
fighters and also have work areas for the County Police
Officers to do reports and store their gear. The PBA
was honored to be a part of this ceremony and wish the
Firefighters the best in their new home.

What a great (albeit chilly) day for the 11th Annual PBA Golf Tournament! An overcast day didn’t deter everyone
from having a great time on the course, as they enjoyed great golf conditions, food, drinks, networking, and lots of
door prizes! All proceeds from the tournament go to support the PBA Community Assistance Projects. A huge
thanks to all who came out to play, our wonderful sponsors listed below, and our volunteers that make the day
possible (Mary Brodowski – BB&T Bank, Lisa Hart – Arundel Federal Savings Bank, Tracy Jessilonis –

Chief’s Business Advisory Council
As a member of the PBA we are invited to attend the Chief’s Business Advisory Council meeting monthly at
Headquarters in Millersville. The meeting in September focused on a new task force that is working hand in hand
with the police, fire & hospitals and has been in operation for just over a month. Mobil Crisis Team/Crisis
Intervention Teams are now in operation 24/7 and we are the only county in the state that has this available.
This innovative program has attracted national attention from police & health organizations. AACo Police Chief
Kevin Davis has made an important contribution by working with the Mental Health Agency to set up a crisis
intervention team system, which pairs clinicians with police officers to allow immediate responses. Chief Davis
recognized that there were 497,900 calls for service last year but only 16,000 of those were crimes. “What
constituted all those other calls? Most of the time it is people in crisis.” The crisis team is called on by Police,
Fire/EMS, schools & hospitals when someone is having a mental health crisis involving potential risk. They
evaluate the patient, stay with them at the hospital (which allows the officers to get back to their shifts) and they
provide follow up. The county’s “warm line” #410-768-5522 is available 24/7 for those in crisis and for their
families & neighbors. I was able to witness the results of this team first hand, when our family was faced with a
sudden death. The clinicians remained with the family all day in order to council and assist them with whatever
they needed & have provided follow up. We are very fortunate to have Chief Kevin Davis & clinician Jennifer
Corbin to have the foresight to bring this vital service to our community. We thank you & all of the teams for your
service to our county.

PBA CARING & SHARING PARADE – Tracey Jessilonis, Chesapeake Bank
The 19th Annual Caring & Sharing Parade will be held on Sunday, November 2 at 2pm. Please mark your
calendar for this event as it is always a great time!
We will again be collecting food during the parade to supply our local church food pantries so please help us by
bringing along non-perishable food items to donate. The items will be collected along the parade route. You may
also donate very easily by visiting Lauer’s Supermarket and purchasing a bag for any amount. They will fill the
bags with food items AT COST so this is an easy and very cost effective way to donate.
If you would like a food collection barrel in your business give me a call and we will have one delivered.
Everyone is welcome to participate so please get those floats ready! You can download the forms, information,
and rules on our website at www.pasadenabusinessassociation.com. Please read them carefully as there are new
rules as set by our local police department to ensure that this is a fun and SAFE event.
We are also in need of corporate sponsors. Our sponsor’s donations are an important part of making this parade
a success, so we once again NEED YOUR HELP! As a sponsor, your name will be announced at the parade,
you will be listed on the DVD as a corporate sponsor, and you will be placed toward the front of the parade lineup
with a Corporate Sponsor sign for your vehicle. If your business would like to be a sponsor, please mail a
donation of $200 to PO BOX 861, Pasadena, Md. 21123, made payable to the PBA.
PARADE CORPORATE SPONSORS
Our Caring and Sharing Parade has always been very successful and continues to grow each year, thanks to our
members who each year participate and are Corporate Sponsors. Corporate Sponsors will be announced at
the parade, display a sign that states the business is a corporate sponsor on their entry in the parade, listed on
the DVD as a corporate sponsor, and will be placed toward the front of the parade lineup. If your business
would like to be a corporate sponsor please mail a donation of $200, payable to PBA, PO Box 861,
Pasadena, MD 21123.
