This year the Oak Ridge Varsity Cheerleaders and the Football players teamed up to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. For the past two weeks, the cheerleaders conducted a change war on both campuses in all of the English classes. The teacher who raised the most money would receive free Canes for all of his/her students paid for by the cheerleaders. The student body raised over $5,ooo in 8 days, and the winner, junior teacher Mrs. Theresa Neeman, won the contest with over $1,000 in her bucket. Her students decided to take the cost of the food and donate it right back to St. Jude’s. At Thursday’s Varsity game against Summer Creek High School the football team celebrated St. Jude’s by wearing a decal on their helmet and the cheerleaders supported the hospital by wearing a St. Jude bow and a St. Jude t-shirt. The t-shirt was sold with profits being donated to the hospital. With all of the combined activities the grand total that was raised for St. Jude’s was over $6,000.00 ORHS is a Testing Site for the ACT/SAT Remember to click on ORHS to test at your home campus!
