What is CAP?
The Creative Arts Programme (CAP)
is organised by Gifted
Education Branch,
Ministry of Education and
the University Scholars
Programme, NUS.

CAP Seminar
The Creative Arts Seminar offers an
annual literary adventure for selected
students. It consists of the following:
 writing workshops;
 plenary sessions and forums;
 performance workshops which will
be showcased at the Closing
Ceremony of the Seminar

Application & Selection:
 The Secondary CAP is multilingual.
You may choose to write in English,
Chinese, Malay or Tamil.
 CAP is open to Secondary 2 and 3
pupils.
 Pupils who have already
participated in 2014 are not
eligible for the 2015 Creative Arts
Seminar or Mentorship
Attachment.

Application & Selection:
 The maximum number of creative
works to be included in each portfolio
is 5, and the maximum 8.
 The portfolio could include creative
works from a range of literary genres
(eg. prose, play, poetry) if the pupil
wishes.
 Please note that expository and
argumentative essays should NOT be
included
in
the
portfolio.

Application & Selection:
For prose, short stories or novel,
excerpts should not exceed 1,500
words per piece.
For novels with chapters, up to 3
individual chapters, each not more
than 1,500 words in length, will be
counted as part of the number of
works to be included.
In other words, each chapter will be
considered as one submitted piece.

Application & Selection:
The portfolio should not consist only of
chapters from one novel.
Portfolios that exceed the limit in
terms of number of pieces or words
are discouraged and will be assessed
at the judges’ discretion.

Drafts will be returned to students, along
with CAP Application Form, Letter of
Undertaking and Teacher Recommendation
Form for applicants.

[OEP is scheduled for 22-27 Jan]
3 hard copies of edited portfolios (in 3
separate files) to be submitted, along with
the following:
- 3 copies of CAP Application Form with
recent photograph
- 1 copy of Letter of Undertaking
- 1 copy of Teacher Recommendation

Results:
Successful candidates will
have to pay a fee of $200
(by cheque) for the Seminar.

Withdrawals:
Successful candidates who wish
to withdraw are required to
submit an official letter of
apology in writing, which must
be sent through the Principal.

Further penalties: You will
• be barred from application to
the CAP for 2015

have to pay the full S$200
if you withdraw from the
Seminar after confirming
attendance
