There are three (3) items for board members’
action that happened during the month of
September as recommended during the last
board meeting on August 16th. These actions
on the follow three items were taken as
follows:
1. KAD sent a letter (via email) to Deaf
Cultural Center Foundation (DCCF) President
David Rosenthal, and maintain the
communication with KAD President Ann
Cooper and the appointment of Chriz Dally
will be announced shortly
2. KAD sent a letter (via email) to NAD
President Chris Wagner of KAD’s interested
to be involved on one of NAD’s priority on
outreach
to
deaf
youths
including
mainstreaming.
A response from NAD
President indicates that a follow-up from the
youth coordinator will be responded shortly.
3. KAD sent a letter (via email) to Kansas
Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Established in 1909!
KAD
(KCDHH) Executive Director Robert Cooper
concerning research and advocate for state
funds for better service for deaf and hard of
hearing Kansans.
KAD’s letter was
mentioned during the Commission Meeting on
Friday, October 10th. KAD should be hearing
how the process goes shortly.
KCDHH Commission Meeting
The Kansas Commission for the Deaf and
Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) commission
meeting was held on Friday, October 10th at
Kansas School for the Deaf’s (KSD) Emery
Elementary Gym. There were about 15
commission members in attendance including
Chriz Dally, KAD representative as a new
member.
Joan Macy, KSD’s Outreach Services, gave
her presentation about the general information
about KSD’s programs. On the next agenda
item, about 8-10 people made their public
comments concerning program or services or
any issues in the State of Kansas. KAD
President Ann Cooper made a short comment
that KCDHH needs to expand more positions
- currently they have two positions, which is
not enough. KCDHH used to have 5-6
positions in the past.
After the meeting, KSD provided a special
tour of the school to show the new apartments
of a program teaching seniors how to live
independently.
