With the arrival of autumn, I'd like to invite you to join Faith
Direct, our parish's electronic eGiving program. Our to-do lists
can get lengthy this back-to-school season, but Faith Direct's
eGiving program will give you one less thing to remember each
week - no more envelopes to find and checks to write before
you go to Mass. Enroll today by visiting www.faithdirect.net and
use our church code, TX565, or pick up an enrollment form from
the parish office to get started!

THE SPECIAL COLLECTION ON NOVEMBER 23, 2014
FOR THE CATHOLIC CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN
DEVELOPMENT (CCHD) NEEDS YOUR HELP.
CCHD was founded to end the cycle of poverty in the
United States by funding organizations that help people
help themselves. With the tradition of improving
education, housing situations, and economic
development, CCHD continues to make a positive
impact on communities nationwide. Your contribution
will defend human dignity and help those
living on the margins of our society.
Please give to the CCHD Collection.

For seniors, we will provide 2 gifts to each.

Or to the Office from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (MondayFriday).
Please do not take gifts to the Rectory or leave overnight!
SOUND TECHS NEEDED
We are looking for additional sound techs to staff the sound mixer
at all Masses. Our goal is to have at least 3 people per Mass time
so that we can rotate and have good coverage.
Training is fairly simple, the board is easy to learn!
Contact Rick Reed in the parish office for more information.
If you cannot find a gift, return the tag early. We may be
able to locate the gift in the Houston area.
Sadly, each year some tags are taken (with the best of
intentions) but the items are not returned! Therefore, Our
plea is: if you will be away or do not have the time to shop,
please do not take a tag.
ON BEHALF OF THE FAMILIES YOU ARE HELPING,
GOD BLESS YOU AND HAVE A SAFE BLESSED
CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

or lives in a health or nursing facility
and is in need of receiving
Holy Communion,
please call the parish
office at 281-367-9885.
COME AND EXPLORE SPIRITUAL DIRECTION!
Spiritual direction is increasingly sought by people today who desire to
have a deeper relationship with God. The gift of spiritual direction is the
process of deepening your relationship with God. It is a privileged time and
place to confidentially reflect upon this relationship in the company of a
trusted person, always keeping in mind that the Holy Spirit is the true
director. These meetings can be helpful during those times when God
seems distant, as well as when you are keenly aware of God's presence in
your life.

INFANT BAPTISM
Infant Baptism, in the Catholic tradition, is a Sacrament
of Initiation. This means parents or guardians are
introducing their child to a faith community and asking
that community to welcome that child. As a parish
community, we want you to prayerfully consider your
decision and to learn as much as you can about the
awesome responsibility you are considering.
Are you ready to make the commitment to actively
participate in the faith you are choosing for your child?
If your answer is YES, please go to our parish website:
www.ssjwoodlands.com/baptism and fill out the RSVP
form and someone will contact you to begin the Baptism
process.

BOY SCOUTS WORKING ON OUR PARISH
COURTYARD ENHANCEMENTS!
Chris Pritchard from Troop 895 has installed the refurbished
Stations of the Cross in our courtyard and they look amazing!
Chris repaired, sanded, stained and varnished each station and
added a plaque stating the significance of each step of Jesus'
journey to his crucifixion. He also planted a Boxwood tree,
Holly bush and Crown of Thorns cactus at each station.
Thanks, Chris!
Cameron Goulden from Troop 204 will be constructing a fire pit
for his Eagle Project. This pit will be located in the courtyard
patio and is to be used for burning of the palms for Ash
Wednesday and the Easter Fire. His design calls for a fire pit
36” in diameter, 18-24” tall, with a firebrick interior. Cameron
is interested in talking to those who are
familiar with masonry. Construction is set
for Saturday, November 15-16. If you
would like to help Cameron with his
Eagle Scout Project, please contact
him by email at [email protected].

discipleship by providing Eucharist to our brothers and sisters
without the means to receive on their own. This is an amazing
and transformative ministry, don’t miss out!

Please join us every 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. Our
meetings are held in Domec Hall in Room 16 at 7:00 p.m.
Please email our conference here at [email protected] for
additional information.
What is the time commitment like? The time is flexible, we ask
each volunteer to keep a goal of 1-2 hours a month. You are
welcome to add on more, if you are able.
What are the particulars of service? Ideally, we would like the
volunteer to commit to one designated home/hospital/living
facility at a time. Unless otherwise specified, the volunteer will
become a part of a larger ‘team’ serving the same location.
Do I need training? Yes, like all liturgical areas of the Church,
you will need to be trained as an Extraordinary Minster of Holy
Communion.

Matthew 25: 39-40.

THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY MINISTRY IS GEARING UP FOR
ITS SECOND HOME BUILD IN CONJUNCTION WITH SAINT
ANTHONY OF PADUA. Again this year, the home will
be built in the Cedar Creek subdivision in Conroe,
under the direction of Montgomery County Habitat
for Humanity. The homeowner has already been
identified, the lot has been selected, and the house
plans have been completed.
The two Catholic parishes will raise the funds to
finance the construction of the home, a total of
$55,000. For Saints Simon & Jude, there will be a
second collection on the weekend of November 8-9.
After all the masses, parishioners will be able to
sign one of several wall studs that will be used in
the construction of the home, and have any
questions answered. We also invite parishioners 18
years of age and older to volunteer to construct the
home. Generally, the work days will be alternate
Saturdays each month, depending on the weather
and other construction activity. Youth 14-17 may
help if accompanied by an adult.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS
ABOUT THE BUILD, AND THANK YOU
FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Questions may be directed to David Vogt, (832) 928-7112.
