Season of Giving
As Advent gets underway and Christmas is
approaching, the spirit of giving is no doubt on your
mind. Many parishioners graciously include Sts.
Simon and Jude Catholic Church on their gift list,
which we greatly appreciate!
Giving at Sts. Simon and Jude is a way for our
parish to flourish and thrive for generations.
Together, we can build upon a solid parish
foundation for ourselves, our children and our
grandchildren.
If you are a registered parishioner keep your eyes
open for the information packet in the mail, which
many have no doubt already received!
If you are not a registered parishioner and are
interested in giving a year-end gift, please complete
the contribution form found in the Narthex or
Administrative Office.
Drop it in the Sunday Collection, mail it or bring
it to the parish office. If you prefer using debit or
credit, you may do so online through Faith Direct.

Spiritual direction is increasingly sought by people today who
desire to have a deeper relationship with God. The gift of
spiritual direction is the process of deepening your relationship
with God. It is a privileged time and place to confidentially
reflect upon this relationship in the company of a trusted
person, always keeping in mind that the Holy Spirit is the true
director. These meetings can be helpful during those times when
God seems distant, as well as when you are keenly aware of God's
presence in your life.

Psalms: The School of Prayer
At the heart of the Bible are the Psalms, prayers from God that
help us learn to pray. The Holy Spirit inspired them. Israel sang
them. Christ himself prayed them, as did our Blessed Mother.
These sacred hymns become our heartfelt response to God’s
loving and wondrous deeds for us. Their words captivate the
imagination and draw us into a deeply personal encounter with
God.
Join Jeff Cavins, Sarah Christmyer, and Dr. Tim Gray as they
show you how to establish a deeply personal dialogue with God
through the Psalms.
Join us for Psalms: The School of Prayer beginning this January
at both the Sunday morning and Monday night scripture study
times. The 11 week study will wrap around the Lenten Arise
semester.
Sunday Mornings 9-11 a.m.: Starting January 11,

What you did for the least of mine you did for
me … Matthew 25:45
Many thanks to all who participated in the Angel Tree Project this year! Your
generosity is greatly appreciated! Not only did we collect all of the specific gifts
that were requested by families, but many people gave even more—which allowed
us to extend our help to many more families. Because of your kindness, these
families will be able to enjoy Christmas that much more.
We provided gifts and gift cards for 30 families (most families having 3 to 6
children), and for 25 individual seniors. In addition, we received heaps of baby
items, over 750 toys, games, cars, trucks, balls, dolls… and over 60 gift cards ranging
from $5 to $35 dollars. These gifts were distributed to needy families through
Interfaith, Pregnancy Assistance Center North, Birthright, St. Vincent de Paul, The
Woodlands fire station, and Casa Juan Diego (Houston) and a few others. On behalf
of all these families and organizations THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
We would also like to thank all the Angels that helped make this project so
successful by cutting, tying, hanging, collecting, sorting and delivering etc. How
fortunate we truly are to be a part of such a caring community! May God Bless you
and your families. We pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Merry Christmas!
Dear Friends of Casa Juan Diego,
It’s hard to celebrate Christmas in these times of conflict and violence. There is the terror of guns and arms, but
also the terror of poverty impacting families worldwide.
But we must: celebrate the coming of the Prince of Peace, whose first message came from the stable in
Bethlehem. Besides announcing the Good News that God became one of us that we may become as God, Bethlehem
also announces the importance of a Stable people.
Because there is no room in the Inn, the Stable people of the world, trying to escape the terror of poverty and
violence, come to us at Casa Juan Diego.
Since we are to be like God-and God is a go-giver rather than a go-getter-we must respond to the poor to be
faithful followers of the Nazarene and not de-stabilize God’s plan.
We thank you for allowing the miracle of Casa Juan Diego to go on for another year. With your help we bring
peace to many suffering and marginalized people who live with us each night or who have no other help when they
are very ill or injured.
We also try to guarantee that any hungry Houston family who does not live at Casa Juan Diego will have basic food
and do not grow hungry. We distribute tons of food to the hungry each month.
Doctors, dentist who volunteer at the Casa Juan Diego and Casa Maria clinics make a great contribution to the undocumented poor who cannot afford medical care.
We are a post office, travel agent, check casher, doctor, lawyer, labor pool, English teacher, mail service, mother,
father, brother, sister and psychologist to many people.
Your Christmas gift will go directly to the service of the poor, as there are no salaries at Casa Juan Diego.
We wish you a good Christmas, one that was worth the Advent waiting, one that gives meaning to your life and to
those you love. We send our love and prayers and our gratitude.
The peace of Christmas be with you.
Sincerely,
Mark and Louise Zwick and All at Casa Juan Diego

THE HABITAT FOR HUMANITY MINISTRY
IS GEARING UP FOR ITS SECOND HOME BUILD IN
CONJUNCTION WITH SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA.
Again this year, the home will be built in the
Cedar Creek subdivision in Conroe, under the
direction of Montgomery County Habitat for
Humanity. The homeowner has already been
identified, the lot has been selected, and the
house plans have been completed.
The two Catholic parishes will raise the funds to
finance the construction of the home, a total of
$55,000. The gathering of funds will be on-going
until we meet our mark. Envelopes can be found
in the Narthex in support of our efforts.
