FIRST DOWN: The scenario for the
Buffs is simple. Beat rival Eastern
New Mexico and WT clinches a spot in
the top four of the newly formed Lone
Star Conference playoffs. Also, the
Buffs would clinch the No. 2 seed and
host a first round LSC playoff game
next weekend by winning Saturday coupled with Angelo State beating Tarleton State.

A
NALYSIS, STATISTICS, QUOTES AND NUMBERS ABOUT SATURDAY’S REGULAR-SEASON FINALE AND LONE
STAR CONFERENCE GAME BETWEEN WEST TEXAS A&M AND EASTERN NEW MEXICO, AT 7 P.M. CENTRAL SATURDAY AT GREYHOUND STADIUM.

SECOND DOWN: WT leads the alltime series 15-12 and Wagon Wheel
games 14-12. The Greyhounds
snapped WT’s seven-game winning
streak in this series with a 39-38 win
in Canyon last year.
THIRD DOWN: It’s been a disap-
pointing year for the Greyhounds after
a share of an LSC championship in
2013. Though they’re 4-4 overall,
ENMU is 2-4 in the LSC and is officially eliminated from making the top four
of the LSC playoffs. The Greyhounds,
who run the triple option, are averaging 311 yards per game, which leads
the LSC. Defensively, ENMU has struggled, giving up 455 yards a game.
FOURTH DOWN: For a second
straight week WT will be without wide
receiver Anthony Johnson. WT President Dr. J. Patrick O’Brien said it was
doubtful Johnson would ever play after
former WT kicker Jose Azarte Jr.
claims his parents took a Spanish test
for Johnson over the summer. WT running back Geremy Alridge-Mitchell, who
had 886 yards rushing, seeks his seventh straight 100-yard rushing game.
Starting lineups
Getting personal with ... Arthur Fatu
Fatu, a 21-year-old, 5-foot-11 362pound offensive lineman is from
Klein (Oak High School).
Fatu has made a big impact on
the offensive line, starting all eight
games for the Buffs at left guard.
Fatu started six of 14 games last
season as a junior.
Fatu’s father was World Wrestling
Entertainment superstar Edward Smith
“Eddie” Fatu Jr., better known to wrestling
fans by his ring name Umaga. Edward
Smith “Eddie” Fatu Jr. passed away in
2009.
n How much did your dad mean to you?
“He meant a lot. Looking in the stands
and seeing my mom by herself makes me
sad. But I always know my dad is up there
watching me.”
n Are you a WWE fan?
“Oh yeah. I keep up with it because my
West Texas A&M
cousins “The Usos” are in it now.
n When you would go see your dad
wrestle, did you get to talk with some of
the WWE superstars?
“Mainly everybody. Ric Flair, The
Rock, my uncle Rikishi, who was
also in the business, Rey Mysterio.
Obviously my dad was my favorite.”
n How much does playing for WT mean to
you?
“I like it. I played at Blinn College and
then committed here first out of all of my
offers. I like it here, the winning tradition
and the stadium is what made my decision.”
n What does life hold for you after WT?
“Hopefully I’ll get a look at the NFL. If
not hopefully something in the real world,
probably something in business.”

Eastern New Mexico
Coach speak
West Texas A&M head
coach Mike Nesbitt
Eastern New Mexico head
coach Josh Lynn
n Second season at West
Texas A&M, 16-6. Nesbitt is
looking for his first win in the
Wagon Wheel rivalry over
Eastern New Mexico. Last
season, the Greyhounds rallied to stun the Buffs, 39-38.
n Lynn is 24-15 in his third
season at ENMU and is 1-1
in the Wagon Wheel Rivalry.
n Nesbitt spent 2007-2010 as an assistant coach at WT before stints as offensive
coordinator at Stephen F. Austin State and
the University of Houston.
“I think last year I did a poor job of getting
them ready to play the Wagon Wheel game. I
thought with a lot of upper classman we’d
have a sense of intensity about the moment.
I’ve hammered it home to our players that
Eastern was more intense last year and
wanted it more than us. This year our guys
understand the intensity.”

n Lynn is the 15th coach
of the Greyhound football program. Lynn came to ENMU after posting a
9-2 record at New Mexico Military Institute
during the 2011 season. Lynn was an allconference performer at ENMU, prior to serving on the coaching staff.
“In this game it doesn’t matter about
records. It’s a good rivalry game. I’ve seen
teams with three wins in a season win it. I
think the Wagon Wheel game alone is good
motivation. It’s important to keep the Wheel
here. I got more comments on that than I did
our Lone Star Conference title last year.”
