LA PRESA STEAM ACADEMY
The vision of La Presa STEAM is to form a
4th grade through 8th grade Science-TechnologyEngineering-ArtsMathematics STEAM school on the present LPMS
campus in the 2015-2016 school year. To build
college and career readiness, La Presa STEAM will
partner with local businesses, high schools,
colleges, and universities. Our design will pave
educational “pathways” for grades 4-8 focused on
Engineering, Media/Technology, Performing
Arts, and the Biomedical field.
How will La Presa STEAM Academy set
itself apart from other elementary and middle
schools in the area?
●
Over 90 hours of extended learning time
in science and math

and participation in extracurricular
activities
●
Block scheduling in grades 4-8 offer more
time for students to master concepts,
complete labs, and finish projects.
●
30-minute targeted STEAM innovation
periods - Media, Dance, Band, Robotics,
Biomedical, Tech/Media, Math Olympiad,
Engineering, Science Olympiad
●
Exposure to STEAM pathways for 4th,
5th, and 6th graders via elective classes
●
A common 8:30 start time for all grades
●
4-6 grades have their own area and
