My dear Community of Toukley and Lake Munmorah
Today we celebrate the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in
Rome on 9th November 324 AD by Pope St. Sylvester.
The central theme of today’s readings reminds us that we are
the temples of God where the Spirit of God, the real Source
of all spiritual blessings.
In today’s first reading, Ezekiel prophesies to the exiles in
Babylon that the restored Temple of God will be a source of
God’s blessings for them when they return to Jerusalem. In
the second reading, Paul reminds the Corinthians that they
are the temples of God built on the foundation of Jesus, and
that the Holy Spirit dwells in them. Hence, he warns that they
have to keep their bodies pure and their souls holy.
Today’s Gospel gives the dramatic account of Jesus' cleansing the Temple of Jerusalem by driving out its merchants and
money-changers, followed by His prediction of His own
death and Resurrection. The theologian Karl Rahner put it
this way: "The number one cause of atheism is Christians.
Those who proclaim God with their mouths and deny Him
with their lifestyles are what an unbelieving world finds simply unbelievable."
With all good wishes.
Fr. Peter

Dear Parents and Friends,
We are searching for people to support St Brendan’s team for
Movember 2014. Our team name is: St Brendan’s ‘Men of
Destiny’ and we have 2 teachers growing a Mo to raise funds
for men’s health. There are 2 ways to support us – donate
online or join us. Mr Hannan and Mr Ward are already in
the team but are putting out a call to all Dads, Pops, brothers,
uncles, Godfathers and family friends to join our team – the
more the merrier To join our team you need to go to: http://
au.movember.com/ then register as a ‘mo bro’ then search
for our team and join. To donate you need to go to: http://
au.movember.com/ and then donate online. If you do donate
please be sure to leave us a message so we know who you
are. We are hoping to have lots of ‘mo-bros’ join in to be a
member of St Brendan’s ‘Men of Destiny’ and/or raise funds
to promote mens health. There may even be something for
the students later in Movember, we’ll have to wait and see.
