THE BIG PRAM WALK
“Just speak up”
Last year Women’s Health Resource Centre held Geraldton’s first “Big Pram Walk” during Post natal Depression Week. Due to the success of this first one and the importance on getting awareness out into the community around perinatal depression and anxiety, we have organised another event for the 20th November
2014. This one will be bigger and better with more community organisation partners and lots more children’s activities and information bags for mums.

As from 1st November 2014,
a fee of $15 will occur for all
clients who book an appointment with our professional
staff and do not show up to
this appointment. Women
who notify us within 24
hours of the appointment
will not be charged. The
new fee applies for GP service, counselling and all
nurse appointments. Clients
will not be able to rebook
until this fee is paid.

It is unfortunate that we
have had to implement this
fee but our professional services are not being respected
by some clients and this is
basically wasting our vital
funds as we cannot fill the
appointments at short notice.
We strive hard to seek and
obtain funds for all our services and hope that our clients understand this and respect the services we offer.

Diabetes is serious and there are 280 new cases in Australia every day.
Diabetes threatens to overwhelm the healthcare system.
About 1.1 million Australians currently know they have diabetes and live with it every day.
Hundreds of thousands of Australians have silent, undiagnosed type 2 diabetes.
Over 2 million Australians have pre-diabetes and are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Bookings are essential as we need numbers for catering. Please phone 9964 2742 or email [email protected] if you are intending to participate.

MARCH AGAINST VIOLENCE (MAV) 2014
Date: 25th November, 2014
Venue: Edith Cowan Square – Marine Terrace (across from the Courthouse)
Time: 10.00am – 2.00pm
WHRC will again be supporting Chrysalis Support Services when they hold their annual march
through the streets of Geraldton to raise community awareness of the harmful effects of family and
domestic violence and sexual assault.
Too many people are unaware of the harmful effects of violence in our community. Most people
relate to family violence in a physical way, through punching, slapping, and kicking, shoving or sexual abuse. Family violence is in fact far more extensive, encompassing mental, verbal, financial and
psychological abuse.
