Best Kept Secrets [ ] Membership Resources

Missouri Dental Association
The Power of Three
The MDA always has provided advocacy, plus value and
savings on CE and endorsed products and services—but
we also host events for new dentists, like Connect4Success
and offer programs to help your staff succeed, like the
Expanded Function Dental Assistant program. One of our
greatest strengths is providing great member service.
Members rely on us to answer questions to help them with
their day-to-day practice management and navigation of
regulatory issues.

Best Kept Secrets
We’d like to think everyone knows about all the fantastic programs, products and services MDA membership
provides. But often doctors don’t realize that these offerings they consider outstanding and valuable are provided solely because of
the Missouri Dental Association! Become a member today to experience the savings, services and satisfaction!

The MDA is a state constituent of
the American Dental Association.
The dental profession is rapidly
changing, and to help address
those changes and protect the
profession, the ADA is taking action
to provide its members with
excellent resources, such as its
Center for Professional Success,
Dental Practice Hub, Evidence
Based Dentistry initiatives and
more. Additionally, the ADA is
encouraging a conversation about
dental health in the public,
with policy efforts like Action for
Dental Health and education
efforts like MouthHealthy.org.

Our mission at the MDA is to help members succeed. Here are a few other “secret”
events and programs the MDA has had a hand in this year!
• Helped host the 28th ADA New Dentist Conference in Kansas City—with the second best attendance in meeting history! What’s more, one of our own
Missouri members was awarded the ADA Golden Apple Award for New Dentist Leadership.
• Created curriculum for the new Restorative II Expanded Functions skills, which was approved by the Missouri Dental Board in August and currently is
the only approved curriculum in the state. Courses begin in October.
• Passed Silent PPO legislation, which became effective August 28. Silent leasing, done without the provider being notified, creates confusion on behalf of
the doctor and the patient. Because of MDA advocacy, it is no longer allowed!
• Hosted our third Missouri Mission of Mercy charitable dental clinic. In three events since 2011 we have treated a combined 5,249 patients, totaling nearly
$3 million in donated care.
• Helped communities battling the discontinuation of water fluoridation. For example, in Columbia, after hearing testimony, including from MDA members
who rallied for the cause, the city council voted to continue community water fluoridation.

Membership is not just a fragmented collection of national, state and local associations. We are
more than that … we’re one organization, truly a family. Together we produce what the individual
parts cannot produce alone.
One membership harnesses the Power of 3: Benefits and resources from the American Dental
Association, the Missouri Dental Association and one of eight local component societies—not to
mention our subsidiaries. Together, our mission is to “Help All Members Succeed.”
One organization with three parts working together to maximize the value of membership.
