LLM officially opens sport complex and road….continued
The premier said in his speech that the
sport facility is important to keep young
people occupied with healthy activities
and to steer them clear from social ills
such as drugs and crime. / continue on
pg2The sport facility can accommodate
3500 people and will eventually facilitate
different activities such as soccer, track,
tennis, volleyball, netball and squash. The
stadium was built with funds from the
Municipal infrastructure grant (MIG) of
which the municipality is required to use
15% to build and implement sports and
recreation facilities. Around 30 local
people were employed during the
construction of the facility.
Executive Manager – Social Services, L S Thobane gives a tour of the facility.
The access road to Mohlasedi village is a
3.5km tar road, making it easier for
private and public transport to access the
area. Construction started in April this
year after it became clear that the gravel
road could not carry the large amount of
busses that transport community
members daily. Altogether 27 local people
were employed during construction.
The Premier officially opens the
Mohlasedi access road with
Executive manager Infrastructure, Lawrence Tlhako and
the Mayor, Moloko Jack Maeko.

LLM hosts minister Collins Chabane
` The Minister of Public Service and Administration,
Collins Chabane conducted surprise visits to public
service providers in Lephalale on Friday, 10 October.
The visit forms part of an initiative that was launched
nationally by the department in September with the
theme “reinventing the way public servants work.”
The minister was welcomed by the Mayor of
Lephalale, Moloko Jack Maeko and the District
Executive Mayor, Rosina Mogotlane at the
Municipality on Friday morning. The Mayors escorted
the minister on a tour of the local Department of
Home Affairs and the Clinic in Marapong. Public
servants were also invited to engage with the
minister at a function held at the Mogol Club
afterwards.
The minister in turn spoke about the challenges
facing public servants when there are not enough
resources. He vowed to come up with a programme
to better equip public servants so that they can
attend to the needs of the community. He told the
delegates that the department will work hand in
hand with the local municipality to improve public
services in the area. “We must make sure that text
books are delivered on time; that hospitals are well
stocked; that ID’s are issued on time; that social
grants are paid out and that the local police are
resourced and staffed to ensure a safer community.”
Mayor Maeko welcomed the initiative saying that
public service is part of the ANC led government’s
mandate to create a united, non-racial, non-sexist,
democratic and prosperous South Africa. “Public
service and local governance is about putting people
first,” he added.
