2014 All-CCAA Men’s Soccer Team Announced!
Cal State L.A. Places Conference-High Nine Players on All-Conference Team!
!
!
TURLOCK — Cal State L.A. placed a Conference-high nine players on the California Collegiate Athletic
Association men’s soccer teams to highlight Thursday’s release of the CCAA annual postseason
awards, that were presented at the 2014 Soccer Championships pre-tournament banquet in Turlock.!
!
Following the Golden Eagles were the Broncos with eight selections, Cal State Stanislaus (6), Cal State
Dominguez Hills (5) and Cal State San Bernardino (5).!
!
CSULA also had a Conference-best four players named to this year’s First team, including goalkeeper
Mike Beigarten, forward Halil Tozar, midfielder Eduardo Almaraz, and defender Dane Nielsen. CPP
had three players make the First team, while Cal State Dominguez Hills, Chico State, Humboldt State,
and UC San Diego also received top honors.!

Snagging Individual awards this season were Cal Poly Pomona’s Christian Gonzalez Diaz, who was
named Newcomer of the Year and the Offensive Player of the Year, Cal Poly Pomona’s Jose Ortega,
who earned the Defensive Player of the Year award, Cal State San Bernardino’s Debray Hollimon, the
Freshman of the Year, and Cal Poly Pomona Head Coach Yossi Raz.!

Gonzalez Diaz is the first men's soccer player to snag both the Newcomer of the Year and Offensive
Player of the Year awards since former Chico State player Ferid Celosmanovic earned both in 2010.
Diaz had an outstanding first season with the Broncos, averaging a goal per two games played and
ranking first among the CCAA with six goals and 15 points.!

Ortega spearheaded the Broncos defensive line, which allowed just eight goals all season and ranks
third among all Division II teams with a goals against average of 0.46.!
!
Hollimon was one of only two freshmen to earn All-CCAA honors this season after totaling nine goals
and three assists for 21 points during his rookie year with the Coyotes.!
!
Raz was named Coach of the Year after guided CPP’s men’s soccer program to its first-ever CCAA title
with a near perfect 10-1 Conference record and a highest-ever national rank No. 8 in the country.!
